I've got some pix of my popup
Mechanism. Took the whole top of today. Two sets of springs on each side. 1-top and 1-bottom. Two sliders on each side. 1 top and 1 bottom. And then a pivot on top and a pivot on bottom on each side!!!
I took measurements too...

I will try to get some more detailed photos for you, right now my top is on my lawn, the photos I have are detail shots of how the screws went in, love having my phone/camera with me when I am working. I will try to shoot the mechanism, and i took some measurements too.

Does anybody have photos of their "lock down" mechanisms. Are they the rubber latch type (pictured below)??? If So how long is the rubber part. mine had little latches on the trailer fiberglass, looks like they were from a suitcase, but nada on the home made top.
Here is what I am thinking but want to be sure.
Thanks. .

Jimbo,
My latches for the pop top are all metal. I have seen them in my searches for trailer stuff. I will see if I can locate the link.
I am planning to pick up my trailer today as I took it in to have the windows refurbished so they open and don't leak. A local trailer supply in San Leandro. It was beyond my abilities and knowledge. I'll try to get some pictures.

Thanks Terry and Mark. I think mine might have been metal initially but I really like the rubber. How long Are they. Thank you both!

My latches are metal hooks that pull down with springs and then hook into a kind of clamshell metal piece on the trailer. Sorry, cant get pictures right now.
Edit icture here. Also a source...

The drawing of the latch & catch Bobbie pointed to has dimensions, but it is very small. Too bad that source does not have the catch available as they could be harder to source. (I don't know what the Jeeps use for catches -- they sure used the latch part for many years.)
Jimbo, I can take measurements, but your non-original top may require a different length of hold down. Is your lift hardware the same as Teri has shown, using a scissor action?

Thanks Mark Length is the important part. 3", 4", 6" etc. My life mechanism is original and works (luckily). The top on it was plywood and 2x4's curtesy of of the PO. So mine is too. But prettier and I will have a PVC sheet on top with aluminum rails and butyl tape.

Jimbo, the original style hold down as fitted on my Campster is 3".
You may want to get the top mounted and see what you have to work with.
I ask about the mechanism to learn more on possible running changes or variations.
