Thanks Norm and Ginny, I looked thru part of the other thread and saw all the pictures. When I have more time, I'll look further. You've done a great job and thank you!

Under Stove Pantry

Steve, We have an under stove pantry, each about two feet deep primarily used to hold canned goods. These heavy items are near the axle and low in the trailer. The pull out shelves make it easy for Ginny to find things, they are basically over the wheel well. Below them and in front of the wheel well is a blastic bin that holds onions and potatoes,

Don't think that I have ever seen an RV fresh water tank that was exposed to any sunlight. Most (of not all) are usually inside the coach.

But that's a good lesson as to why they are inside.

It's pseudo Latin, from the Red Green show, alledgedly meaning "when all else fails, play dead."

How could it be pseudo-Latin if it's from the Red Green show? Didn't he invent Latin?

Steve I'm struggling with the same issues that you are. I removed my tank from under the seat/table area. The tank is in great shape but considering it dates back to 1975 I'm thinking its time to replace it. I do lean towards Ian's setup for many of the reasons discussed here.
The original tank was held tight against the bottom of the trailer with a sheet of 3/4" plywood and fastened with bolts. Seemed to work well.

The tank I removed is about the same dimension as the one you are considering.

This is the only wood that held the tank tight against the underside of the Boler.

Hi! Say, thanks! Wasn't far off, just missed the "play" aspect of "moritati." My husband uses this strategy quite a bit...I must seem like a grizzly or something.

Hi Ian,
I'm thinking about doing this. I've got an electric pump and am wondering if on of the outside city water connectors with the back flow valve will work. Will the little pumps have enough suction to open it. It's probably just a metal and spring in there. Kinda like this: Valterra A01-0170LFVP White 2-3/4" Plastic Lead-Free Flange Water Inlet. Thoughts? Thanks, Steve

The pump has to draw air then water to prime and run and it doesn't have that kind of capability as does the pressure side. I'd doubt if it could draw enough to overcome what is, basically, a pressure valve.

I used a standard RV drain fitting with a male hose fitting for my external tank./

Thanks Bob. After looking some more at the current set up (diner tore out right now, need to replace floor due to water damage) I believe the pump has a back flow regulator so a drain on the outside like has been suggested should work.

RV water pumps, in a pressurized system, have to have a backflow valve, otherwise they couldn't hold pressure and would run continually.
