In removing and resealing all the
windows on my 1988
Bigfoot B19, I also removed the front window shield, which has the original non-hydraulic telescoping aluminum arms with wing nuts on each side. I want to replace the original arms with gas lifts/gas struts (I've seen them called a number of different things online). I just found a few posts talking in general terms about these, but with no details on how to measure for and install the gas lifts when replacing a non-hydraulic telescoping arm.
What I need to know is how to measure for the right length and
weight of gas lift (most people mention 15-25 lbs.) to keep the front window cover up when desired, and if I need to install the new gas lifts in a different manner than the original non-hydraulic telescoping arms.
Thank you for any pointers, post referrals!
