Quality door lock/latch recommendations

Hello,
I have a 1300 Trillium project and I'm at the stage of addressing the door. Without getting into too many details on the trailer at this point and assuming I could start from scratch (no cut out for a latch in the door), can anyone recommend a currently available, high quality door latch? I would rather spend more on the front end than deal with problems down the road.

I've spent a good bit of time searching this forum and the internet. The information I'm finding primarily relates to repairing or replacing the OE Bargman lock. I have an L400 available in new condition but with an eye to the lack of a replacement or parts down the road, can or should I install something of higher quality that still fits with the character of the trailer? Any and all opinions would be appreciated.

Jeff,

I used the FIC chrome door lock on my Scamp to replace the old cheapy "Bread truck" lock. It's quite labor-intensive but turned out very nice and works SUPER! Yours already has a similar- but older- lock. Here's what I found that COULD be of help hopefully from etrailer.com. Sounds like someone else has dealt with this as well. If you want to see my mod, the link to it is below this etrailer one.

Sell your L400 for big bucks.
Trimark seems to be a popular choice.

my 13f scamper has the junkiest lock I have ever seen. since we boondock a pin to lock it doesn't make good sense but that is all we have. I have yet to see an easy way to upgrade.

You stated that your lock is still in good shape, so if it were me, I would keep it lubed and use it. It will probably last your lifetime and save you the hastle of trying to make do with it’s replacement
