Yes, my post was poorly worded. I concur that Bromptons and other folders, particularly including Bike Fridays, can serve well for extended touring, etc. However, as regards these sorts of uses, (including the group on the STP), I would ask whether it is the Indian or the arrow.
I looked at the gearing on the Bromptons when I was shopping a couple of years back, and as I recall the speeds and ratios were pretty limited until you get into nosebleed territory with the pricing.
