Hi, I am reconnecting to my past

My name is Stefan and I came across this forum as I am looking to set myself up with a Hymer GT trailer. This reminds me of days past when I owned an Eriba Pan in my early twenties and towed it with an Opel Rekord...A generation later and an ocean apart, I now want to try again. The idea is to tow this trailer with an electric car and perhaps put it onto a battery-powered chassis one day for better range.

Welcome Stefan, we've got a few folks here who picked up the North American trailers in the last year or so, as well as a few with the older European trailers though I'm not sure who's active on the forum in that category.

I've been intrigued by the talk of trailers with their own battery packs to assist with the tow. Maybe you'll be able to share something in that arena.

If you’re still looking for a Hymer, I may know of one coming up for sale soon. You can send me a PM if interested.

There’s also the Meerkat, a modern clone of the smaller Eriba Puck. I believe it uses the same build method as the original: aluminum skin over aluminum frame with a molded fiberglass top. Not self contained, about 900# dry.
