That before picture is enough to give me the willies. Yikes! What is that black stuff on the walls? Mildew?
You did a great job of restoring your egg. You should be proud.

I'm not sure Roger, something biological and it was everywhere. I was a little aprehensive about wanting to send samples out for testing to find out for sure. I did not want the trailer to be condemned as a biohazard. All I know is that so far it has not returned. So our efforts have paid off.
Thank you for the compliments. Another 3 or 4 years and I might have it finished.

'Another American'. Go take a look at "Marty and Cheryl's Boler" in th Picture section over on the Bolerama site. Interresting roof rack and a brand new paint job.

Darn, I wish I knew we could have eaten the stuff, we were starving by the end of the day when we picked up the trailer. Might be time to learn some survival skills. I thought were were starting off on a new life of Glam-ping. Then again, maybe lichens are gastronomically up there with the likes of truffels. OTOH with only being able to afford to buy a trashed trailer, we would not know about the finer things in life.

Glad to help
Hello Roy,
What good fortune to have preserved your old photos.
Wish that had happened to my original post so many years ago when much was lost on this site. Oh well, I must thank you again for allowing me to have borrowed your images without complaint. Thanks
And also want to mention that you're doing a great job! I may soon look at a door repair like yours. Genious I say.

You should be very proud for all the work you have done and the beautiful trailer that emerged from the neglect. Hope you have an album of pictures that you take along on your journys to show people what you have done. It is very sad to me when I see trailers that are sitting in yards, fields and being neglected.
Keep the pictures coming.

Thanks Thomas,
Now that I have learnt a lot more about the sources of the problem, I would fix the door differently.

That's a few short months before I officially signed up to FGRV. I always wondered how long ago that was, I never watched for dates on the Legacy Posts. Brings another meaning to Remembrance Day.

Going through the Modifications, Alterations and Upgrades pages and 'found' your before and after photos. I would never have had the courage to pick up a trailer with stuff growing on and in it. It really is lovely now. Wonder if you were questioned at the border because of the shape it was in at the time? The border guard just scanned our passports and noted our destination when we went through last October. Is there generally a problem with the vintage trailers?

There were no problems at the border. We had to stop to pay the GST for importing. The two important things were that the outside and underneath were washed and that we had the correct paperwork.
