Hello All,

I'm looking at buying a Fiberstream trailer for around $3500. It look like its in good shape but I'm wondering about the floor plan. The gaucho bunks seem a bit strange. Is is possible to convert them to a queen bed?

The attached is the only floor plan I could find.

Does $3500 seem like a good price?

Thanks,

Andy in California

There is only one Fiber Stream floor plan and you've seen it. The aisle table breaks down and serves as the base of a middle cushion. When all of three of the cushions are in place you have a king size bed.

My table is strapped to the wall. Movable slats cross the space between the two bunks. I can rearrange them make a quasi U dinette, multi purpose sleeping arrangement.

1. The ledge on the underbed storage area supports the base for your middle cushion.

2. An old picture of my trailer in its lived in state. You can see the slats standing on edge in the aisle. The middle cushion is sitting on top of the right side cushion. When the cushions are laid out, it is a level surface.

Wow! Thanks for the super fast replay and for clearing this up for me.

With regard to the price...seems a little high because the interior is described a rough but the quality/condition of the exterior looks really good.

What are your thoughts on that?

Thanks,

Andy

The top price REPORTED for a vintage Fiber Stream was in the $5,000 range a couple of years ago. Most recent Fiber Stream owners have declined to share what they paid. This of course makes it hard to determine current market values. The lowest sale price recorded was under $500. That unit was gutted, all cabinetry, flooring, plumbing and wall coverings had been removed.

Bear in mind that depreciation as it applies to non-fiberglass trailers and vehicles does not work the same for our trailers. The demand outstrips supply for some models and there are 20 year plus units that sell now for more than they sold for new. IMO, if you don't have to replace the frame or something major, $3,500 does not seem unreasonable for a Fiber Stream that is safely rolling. Others may opine differently. Several people on this board have paid less than a thousand dollars for their Fiber Stream. Typically, they purchased from someone who doesn't know that much about our trailers and who had over time lost an appreciation for the novelty of their trailer. I don't think anyone who purchased for a low price would resell for a similar low price.

Just about everyone customizes their trailer in some way. Since I don't know how rough, rough is I'd say the trailer has been prepped for your customizations.

FYI: King sized beds are rarities in fiberglass egg trailers.

You will need to assess the meaning of "Rough" for yourself, when you inspect it. It could be only cosmetically unappealing. Do all of the appliances and equipment work? Is there anything missing? Is anything leaking?

If:
  • The stove AND oven light
  • The refrigerator gets cold on both gas AND electric
  • The water pump fills the sinks and flushes the toilet
  • The heater lights AND heats*
  • the lights light up
  • the cushions are all there
  • the window screens are all there
  • you don't feel like you're going to create a hole in the floor by walking on it
Then it could be worth the asking price.

Without any details, pictures or report of actual condition it is impossible to say if the price is right?
The Fiberstream are unique among Eggs for a number of reasons, not the least of which is the seeming roominess inside.

One can certainly be worth $3500.00 but more detail is needed to rule on this one and then these ar just opinions based on what we have paid and how we feel after having them a while.

This is part of the fun though too, trust me on that!

If it is, it is within a hundred miles of Andy and Frederick says:
[b]At $3500, RUN, don't walk. Have cash in hand! This is an excellent value!

Yes, That's the trailer.

I would caution a buyer: I don't remember how the beefed up tongue changed the tongue weight, especially when Ron's motorcycle was loaded onto that front platform. He towed with a full size pick-up truck.

Ron did the whole inside of the rig very well. It is white with great trim. There is nothing about the interior that says "Trailer".

It's hard to say what the new owner did to it, but at that price, go have a look. It could be as Ron parted with it, and thats a great deal!

and....

Ron just retired from the auto industry. I doubt anything done structurally on his rig was done sloppily or cheap. He has connections.

btw.. the pink chairs are MINE!!! Now, I just have to go get them.

sigh.
