Smile Hugh & Pauline join the Surfside group

Hugh & I have been the proud owners of a Surfside TM14 for about 3 years and have used it for our holidays each year. Yes, we have had to do some minor fixing up in order to use it comfortably, and we are now thinking about replacing the windows, due to the fact that the openers are stripped and don't close or open the windows very efficiently. We would appreciate any suggestions as to the type of windows which will work and where we can get them. Later on we would like to re-paint her. She doesn't have a name yet, but we are working on it.

Our surfside also had some stripped window openers , my suggestion is not to replace the windows , but replace the defective window operators. I got mine from rv country in edmonton. The cost was about 8 dollars for the left and 14 for the right side.if you replace the stripped window operators your windows will work perfectly, klaus

You can expect to pay $100-$200 each for windows. Klaus' idea is a very good one.

Here's a place to get replacement parts for jalousie windows: http://www.vintagetrailersupply.com/...dware_s/27.htm

Welcome to FiberglassRV!

most of the new windows available are sliders..... the jalousie windows are much better at keeping the rain out.
i found several posts that detail how to change out the operators
it is really quite easy after the first one
i found a used one to replace the Plexiglas that was put in our rear window and hopefully i get my new weather stripping from vintage RV soon so i can complete the repair and install it

Hugh & Pauline

Thank you so much for your suggestions regarding our window openers. It would certainly be much easier to replace the mechanism which locks and opens the windows, and certainly cheaper! I really appreciate you taking the time to offer your suggestions!

We want to redo the triple e decal on the front of ours, I didn't realize it was in color, do you have interior pictures of yours?

We love the awning too! It came with the trailer. Last summer we camped down in the states and a really fierce storm blew through the camp ground where we were staying. We were out shopping at the time, and when we got back to the campground there were branches all over the place, and our awning had been lifted to the extent that the channeling which held it to the trailer was all bent like a pretzel. Hugh was able to straighten it and re-attach it - the awning itself wasn't even ripped or damaged! Thankfully

Thanks Klaus: Your advice is well taken, and we have decided to replace the operators instead! I do like the larger windows, but if they are going to leak, then I don't want them! Thanks so much! Pauline

Here they are, sorry that some are blurred! Got to stop shaking when I take pictures! Made new curtains last year and covered the cushions with loose blankets! Very cosy - planning to refinish the outside and replace the window seals!
