I was having a lot of problems staying in this forum for quite awhile. But, now that I am off of dialup, finally, I seem to be staying in. I don't know why it happened, but I am baaack

I recommend people register at Gene's Casita Travel Trailer forum www.casitaforum.com if you want to post and can't get registered at Casita Club. My observation is that while Casita Club has somewhat more posting activity going on, Gene's forum is a great place to go for good technical help.

And of course for all-around travel trailer help, there's nothing like FiberglassRV!

Web site administrators are getting smarter. Spam bots are becoming less and less... although they still love visible e-mail addresses! We're finding, one person (usually in a foreign country) is becoming a member... then sharing the login name and password. Captcha and the like, while good, doesn't help a whole lot under these circumstances. It still takes real live people to monitor activity. There's lots of places in the world where spammers (and their porn) are actually welcome. This isn't one of them places! I'd wish they'd all just go away and leave us alone. A year ago, becoming a member on any of the fiberglass sites was pretty easy. Now all of them have had to institute requirements that are pretty stringent. It's really a very sad state of affairs. Even EscapeForum which is the newest of the bunch has already had one major attack that I know of.

Speaking of spam bots, at a financial forum I frequent this new message appeared:

"Does the dogs of the dow investing theory really work? It worked well in the past, when there there was great emphasis on growth stocks vs. dividend performance stocks. Since the growth "bubble" burst, more investors are reaching for dividend paying stocks, causing the "DD" theory, in practice, to be less successful."

So people started responding until one person posted "OP is a spamer.", followed by some "how do you know's?"

Then the site admin responded with this, which I found very interesting.

"Interestingly enough, she is. Or rather, it is since it appears to be a sophisticated spambot that harvests legitimate questions from somewhere and feeds them to a long list of forums. No doubt the reason for this is to build up enough posts so the spambot can post links and/or images (brand new posters aren't allowed to do either)."

It was later revealed the posts were originating in India. It has six posts, all originating post (no replies), and all asking various financial questions just like a human.

May you live in interesting times!

I have sent my emails, and I've done my sums. I have followed all instructions-- both old and new-- through many attempts at Casita Club Forum....

I agree-- nothing works.

It appears CasitaClub validations only happen every couple of weeks. The latest registration was approved on September 7. If anyone gets impatient... remember Eric's comment about
Quote:
*** Please be patient, your account will be validated after you have responded to the follow-up email. **DO NOT SEND REPEAT EMAILS, AS IT WILL CAUSE YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS TO BE FLAGGED AS SPAM AND GO DIRECTLY INTO THE SITE TRASH CAN**
I'm wondering if once it goes to spam all future e-mails also go to spam?
