SOLD: 1992 Casita Spirit Deluxe 4 Sale

History
I am the second owner who bought this from the nephew who inherited from his uncle in the spring of 2014. I have painstakingly went completely through this gem from one end to the other and from top to bottom and did a frame up restoration. The pervious owner kept under an outside carport while not in use so the fiberglass is in excellent shape. (no cracks)

This Unit:
exterior
1)I have replaced all worn out /deteriorated outside fixtures or fittings (which was about all of them) with new.
2) resealed or calked anything needing it.
3) added new HD/Digital antenna to roof. added TV cable connection box for campgrounds who offer that service.
4)completely cleaned, sanded, resurfaced the metal framework (underneath) with POR 15 which is used by automotive restoration experts. (better than factory coating)
5) replaced wheels and tires with new aluminum wheels/tires
6) added receiver hitch to bumper for "bumper extend-a-carrier" so you can carry additional gear such as generator, fuel, coolers, etc. for remote camping.
7) new propane tank cover. new regulator

Enterior
1) replaced walkway area carpet w/ laminate flooring.
2) replaced factory "pressed wood" cabinet doors with solid oak (not laminate) doors (added quick access door to dinette for storage)
3) converted "water heater" from gas only to include electric as well.
4) added wall mount 19" Visio flat screen TV
5) added 4" folding covered foam bed toppers to both beds. (made both twin and full beds really comfortable instead of just the factory seat cushions).
6) added additional electric outlet.
7) replaced toilet flush arm / value.
8) added a microwave and oak door cover.

So, overall, This camper is just as good as new with no tears or rips in upholstery as it wasn't overly used by the previous owner. Most things that were done by me were because of age rather than use.
It is in great condition with no leaks and has plenty of life left to go another 20-30 years. Fiberglass is in excellent condition after being stored under car port. I bought a canvas cover to use for winter storage.

Other Options:
AC..new filter
awning with little use. (small crack in case/retainer but doesn't effect use.)
stand up shower / with porcelain toilet .
storage canvas cover while not in use.
Refrigerator (gas/ electric/12v) 2.1 cf. (small but convenient)
2 burner stove
single bowl sink.
water holding tank / w 12 v. pump
Grey and Black water tank.
Electric brakes.
O.E. propane heater built in.

If you are serious, you can reach me through e-mail and I will be happy to respond either by phone or e-mail. I expect to sell to someone who really understands and can appreciate the value of the camper ( knows casita's) and can see the love I spent on its updates and restoration. I can send more pictures to your direct e-mail.

If you have a larger 4 cyl. vehicle, you should be able to tow this like a tent camper without the set-up hassle associated with pop-up campers...tow-n-go. And you can stand up in this camper as opposed to the tear-drops that have half the options and cost more than this.

I regretfully list this for sale as I have been searching for years to find one in such good shape at this age. My needs have changed for a different style camper with more cargo room ( toy hauler). This camper is great, easy-tow (1750 lb.) for 2 adults + 1 if needed.

Did you have it weighed? 1750 sounds way low to me, even dry. What is the tongue weight?

I did see the spreadsheet.. there is only one 16 Casita Spirit listed.. 3260 lbs.
On the thread (page one) I see two 16' Spirits at 2840 and 2940 lbs, still way over 1000 lbs from the claimed weight for the one for sale. Hence the reason I asked the OP to confirm the weight he gave.

(Although there are several 17' Spirits that average 2876 lbs total weight, less than some of the 16 footers)

I suspect he got the weight from the NADA guide, which does list it as 1750 dry. Even the Casita site lists the dry weight for the current model as more than 1750.

So, still waiting to hear what the rig really weighs.. if it is 1750 dry as equipped, or anywhere close to it, I AM ALL OVER THIS LOCAL (for me) DEAL. But I sure don't want to buy it and then find it weighs more than half a ton more than I thought it did.

GVWR

Sorry for my delay, but the tag on trailer list the GVWR as 2200#. I just went with the NADA as 1750 dry. So, if you combine or subtract the the two..that allows for about 450lbs of gear which seems about right.

Thanks

Gary

The axel?

Is is still the original axle? My research is the original axles were less than 2000 lb rating.

This camper isn't a Casita. It is an Amerigo. A 70s model. Is this the one you're interested in? If so,just send me a reply and can take it from there. Am located in Alabama. thanks
