Novice meets 1977 Boler 1700, No Regrets

Looks like I'm finally completed committed to my Boler! After a great stay at the NOG (despite the crazy windstorm,) and then successfully resealing my first window, I think we're officially in love! At least that's what my kids say.

With that in mind, I thought I'd start a thread to track my updates. A couple months ago I was a complete newbie. I have learned a lot and want to share what it's like to work on a trailer with no prior experience. So I'll be describing things in detail, which I hope will encourage other novices.

Feel free to make suggestions and ask questions, I appreciate the input and ideas!

Lise

Completed Repairs/Updates

Here are things I've already done, some of which I will post about here:

*hired a mobile RV repairperson to reseal the wheel bearings and check the brakes and show me how to maintain them
*hired a marine electrician to inspect 110 wiring, update shore power and install 2 new outlets
*replaced leaky gravity water fill
*replaced leaky stove vent on side of trailer
*primed & painted rusty stovetop, burners, stove cover, stove vent & furnace cover
*treated mold in utility area and bathroom
*resealed furnace vent
*resealed rear tail lights, license plate holder, external 110 outlet, porch light
*resealed roof plumbing vents
*resealed leaking bath window
*epoxy/cover open rivets
*set up water, electric, sewer and stabilizing systems
*sanitized water holding tanks and lines
*cleaned rear window tracks and weep holes
*cut two memory foam mattresses
*sewed new curtains
*repaired leaky sink drain
*started a Boler Tool Kit
*outfitted kitchen
*began replacing leaky closet supports

Lise tackles her Boler repairs !

Awesome Lise. You are a bit ahead of us on our Boler. Nice list of what was done, and glad you had a camping try-out!
Hope you can add some photos. May have to get in touch with you as we
do much the same with our '78 trailer

Wow great work Lise!!

We are on our 3rd FGRV (Boler 1700), but still finishing our 2nd FGRV (Trillium 4500).

As you may have read, we picked up our Boler 1700 a couple of weeks ago. This being our 3rd FGRV, before we bought it we spent almost 3 hours looking inside, top, bottom, etc. When we got it home, we stopped the leaks (mostly due to blocked weep holes), killed to mold, cleaned it and then stored it for winter!
Meanwhile we've created a list of things that need to be fixed, replaced, etc.

Gook luck to you!!!
