Scamp store screen for new Casita?

Just ordered 16' Casita with curved front door. No screen door avail. Scamp
store lists a screen door $240. Just wondering if it will work for a 2017 Casita 16' LD trailer.Would love to find a screen door for the new Casita. Asked Scamp, no word yet.

Hi Mark, congrats on the new Casita. There have been a number of owners that have built screen doors for the curved shells. Might want to do a site search for some threads/pics on how they made them. There are a few that are over the top with carvings done too.

i checked on the scamp door also for my 16er. price was the big problem. in addition to the $240 there was shipping. since it must be shipped in a crate the freight was another $150 or so to get it to sc. i would imagine a lot more to california. i decided to build one (it was a "how hard can it be" moment). lots of trial and error to get the fit right. clearing the ac unit was the major issue. i did a mock up made from foamcore board to get the dimensions to transfer to wood. it's a bifold door similar to scamp's.

My 2016 Scamp came with a sliding screen door. It appears to be very similar to the one on a Tab trailer. I would expect that to be much less expensive to ship than the bi-fold door. In addition, you probably can find additional sources for it.

Remember that Casita 16s are shorter than Scamps. I don't know if the new-style Scamp screen door is height adjustable. Unlike the old bi-fold style, it is manufactured by another company (Plisse) and Scamp just makes the wood frame to box in the doorway. That frame would be unlikely to fit a Casita due to the height.

Thank you all for your comments and help. I have a hard time replacing screens in my house screen door and just replace when needed. Wish I was more handy in that regard. Will look at all the DIY info.
