Trailer: '77 Triple E Surfside
Posts: 80
If anyone could post or email me the Dry Weight of a Triple E TM 14 camper that would be great. If you have one - have you ever taken a weight on it ? I have a 77 Beachcomber and took it to a public scale for a dry weight and it came up as 1980 lbs. Just wondering if the Surfside's from Triple E were a touch lighter then that ?

Thanks,
Eric

My Triple E Surfside lists at 1600 pounds from the factory. I have not weighed it to confirm.

Alas, the Surfside isn't listed (yet), but if/when y'all do get an answer, would you be so kind as to post it on this How Much Do You Weigh? thread? Thanks.

Yup, the tag on our '77 says 1600lbs. AFAIK they're all labelled 1600 on the standard layout, but I don't know about the alternate layout which has a front kitchenette & rear king bed. I'm wishing I had weighed ours to get an exact "before" weight before I gutted it. :-)

The GVWR refers to the maximum weight a vehicle is designed to carry including the net weight of the vehicle with accessories, plus the weight of passengers, fuel, and cargo. The GVWR is a safety standard used to prevent overloading.

In other words, that's not what your trailer weighs. It's what it is designed to weigh.

1600 pounds seems low as a GVWR for a 14' trailer. If correct, it would be very easy to overload this trailer.

I never weighed mine when I got it but with all my stuff in it, Fred weighed it at Bandon one year and it came in at 1880 lbs. When I bought it, the brakes didn't work, so I had them repaired right away, so I don't know if that made a difference or not.
