Help with price if I sell 1988 16 ft Scamp

I meant to post this here, but put it in For Sale. If you have time to review thread For Sale it under Thinking of Selling 1988 16 ft Scamp. I listed everything.

I'm thinking of selling my beloved standard 1988 16 ft. Scamp. We've had some great fun, but I'd like a hybrid. Wondering what I should ask for it? I'm seeing $4,500 - $6,000 for some of the same issues or less features I have with camper or maybe they're not telling all. I feel it's only right to tell the bad.

For the west coast your prices seems a bit "conservative" and woul d result in a rapid sale. However, say in MA, after the first snow it may become a lawn ornament.

By Hybrid, if you mean with a tip out tent at the ends... be careful of leaks around those huge doors. I helped a friend buy a new one and both ends leaked so bad from being spring, that the dealer eventually had to replace the entire end sections and door frames.

Do your homework. I have a 1996 5th wheel Scamp and paid 6500. I'd hate to see a price set to high and then never get an offer. Good luck and good selling. Sully

I see from another post that I think that Brenda is in MN. This indicates that her remaining "Selling" season is somewhat limited and, being in the Land-O-Scamps, she might have a smaller buyers audience. Again, in selling FGRV's, especially in the off-season, it's location, location & location that remains a primary consideration as to setting pricing.

Now, it has been my experience that 13' and 16' SCAMPS often sell faster and for more $$$ than equal year & condition 5er's. At least for those over about 10 years old. I think that this is because the buyers pool for the bumper-pull market is much, much larger that those buyers looking with an appropriate TV for the 5er'.

We sold a slightly newer 13' Scamp about two years back for $10k and an even older 13' Lil'BigFoot for $9600 last year. Both in CA

It is really hard for folks to put a price on a camper they have not seen and/or inspected. Prices are also somewhat regional and definitely seasonal. Prices are higher in the spring & early summer. High population in driving distance also creates a higher price due to larger pool of purchasers.

One approach is to start with the higher excellent condition price then get prices on the repairs. Deduct some portion or all of the repair cost from the excellent price. Makes it a good deal for the DIY types that will only purchase parts and do the labor while keeping the price attractive for those that will have to pay to have it fixed.

Thank you all for the info. My best be might be to replace the issues over the winter and sell this Spring in better condition. Thanks Roger for the side note re: axel and door. I'll check out your suggestions.
