Welcome to the group, there is a lot of info here;
Needless to say, with modern vehicles having lower and lower tow limits, this is a popular topic hereabouts.
But... If your factory tow limit is 2000 lbs. (if so indicated in
your owners manual) I think you better forget about the
Scamp 16'er, here's why.
Current Factory weights for the 16' Scamp are:
Standard: 1750-2000 lbs.
Deluxe (with wood interior) 2200-2600 lbs.
And those are empty dry weights, something you will never see in use.
The lowest
weight 16' Scamp in the real world weights listing is about 2400 lbs. and they ranged up to 2800 lbs. In fact only one 16', a
Casita @ 2020 lbs was even close, but still over a tad.
Moreover, you don't really want to tow at 100% of your vehicles capacity.
Now, following will be many stories about those that have chosen to ignore the manufacturers
weight specifications and towed well over those limits. However you will find few posts from those that did so and had problems, simply because that's human nature.
If you need further advise on this issue, ask your insurance company what their position will be if you are involved I an accident and it is found that your overweight limit trailer contributed to the cause. Better yet, ask your attorney.....
Good Luck
