Scamp-based Design company

Hey everyone!

My wife Jess and I are graphic designers who are leaving our day jobs at the end of July and pursuing independent graphic, photographic and video work full-time.

In addition, we have also launched a Kickstarter campaign to get a pilot program going for what we hope will develop into a nonprofit creative services business.

This project, affectionately known and branded as DesignCan—in reference to our fiberglass can (16' Scamp trailer), will offer free design services to artists, entrepreneurs, and small institutions in need a visual media like websites, photos, print collateral, etc., but may not have a budget to hire someone. Rather than let that important piece of the equation fall to the wayside, DesignCan would do the design for free, our fee would be covered through crowd sourced funding. Eventually, we hope to turn DesignCan into a network of creatives who get paid fairly for their work, but get to provide meaningful work for folks with interesting projects of all sorts.

Please check it out! We are hoping to travel the country and meet folks that could use design themselves. Our office is our Scamp trailer.

Visit our site, WickstromDesign.com for more info and work examples.

Visit DesignCan.org for information on the pilot program or visit Kickstarter: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects...an/description

Thanks so much for your time! We are so excited to follow our dreams in the coming months!!Click image for larger version

Live your dreams! We wish you all the best.

What an awesome and creative way to use your gifts to elevate great ideas and become a part of something bigger than yourselves! It's a 21st century mobile, techno-renaissance experiment in the making!

Plus, it's even better that you're doing it in a Scamp!

PS: I'm guessing you chose DesignCan over DesignEgg 'cus DesignEgg doesn't exactly roll off the tongue? The "Canned Ham" community call their trailers 'cans', and fiberglass moldables call 'em "Eggs" in general. Still, it is a good name

You had me pretty excited there for a minute, I misread your opening sentence to read "pursuing independent graphic pornographic video work full-time."

Haha. Totally!

We are super pumped. Part of our idea is that design CAN help great ideas, CAN create change, etc. The egg is also a pretty awesome image, but we liked the tie in to our project mission.

Thanks for the kind words. We cannot wait to leave Chicago for the road. We will relish the change of pace!

Haha. That would be sweet.

Well, we are actually thinking that folks who back our Kickstarter at a certain amount could get their name on it under our logo and "fueled by:". It's our way of letting folks know that we couldn't have done it without a community of supporters.
