Curtian Rod upgrade for scamp

While preping to paint my scamp this summer ( which is now done) I filled in all the previous curtian rod mounting brackets, cause I did not like that many rivets going through the shell.
Made a frame of wood around the door window and made some thin aluminum brackets to hold a 3/8 delrin rod. ( delrin is a plastic that is light weight and strong)

For the big windows on the ends I made some blocks that were kind of parallogram shape which allowed them to mount pretty close to the window molding. these brackets were mounted on the overhead with a 8-32 screw holding them on. these were mounted about two inches either side of the window rubber, Found out that I had to cut the 5/8s delrin rod in half lengthwise to be able to insert it. This then required a small screw in the end blocks to hold the rod in position.

For the two side windows I hung one end under the overhead like the front/back curtians and then mounted a small block to the closet side and another to the overhead above the sink, both being in line with the top of the side windows. A screw( Pin ) in the front edge of both side blocks allows the rod to be removed if necessary. Here I used 1/2 delrin rod.

I do have lots more pics which will help in understanding this and seeing how good they look but I dont know how to load them into this thread. If anyone knows or wishes to see more pics let me know and I will email you the pict and you can upload them for me.

Very innovative solution Bob! I believe that you can post more pics by simply posting another comment to this discussion. I would love to see more shots of what you have done...!

Nice, really nice! I agree. To poke that many holes through the shell to hang curtains is just plain nutz! You came up with a good, workable solution.

Nice job Bob. The aluminum window frame is truly useful. We use them for support of our overhead, never considered replacing the brackets, great idea.
