Wink

We just bought a Trails West Campster, and have taken it out 3 times already. She's pretty rough, but I've got big ideas for restore/refurbishing. Does anyone know how to redo the canvas pop-up? I'll try to get some pictures for you, but have patience...I've never been on a forum before. I noticed a plate on the outside by the back door which looks like a certification from the State of Washington for the electrical, or something. Maybe that's where they were originally made? I've read many of your posts in the last few weeks, but evidently, no one has been able to track down origin? My hubby is going to weld the springs. Ours has had the front window removed to install a 110 A/C, which I wouldn't be able to live without here in NE. We haven't used the water system, yet. Don't really know what to do. This is our first camper! I was also wondering what to use to paint interior and exterior? We want to take out the paneling which is peeling off and very messy. We love it so far! Any advice is appreciated.

Hello and welcome! We have many members who have pop-tops. I did a search for "canvas" and got a bunch of hits. There is just one of many discussions HERE that might be helpful.

Hi, Sherry,

I have a Campster, too, also obtained fairly recently. Mine has the VIN number on a plate on the back which lists Idaho as the state of origin, which would go along with it being manufactured by TrailsWest of Idaho (but they say that it was not, and their info says they were not in business in the 70s.) So hard to say. It does not appear to be a first cousin to the Compact/Hunter series; for example, mine has black fuzzy interior, not the quilted lining of the Compacts.

I don't know about the canvas replacement- haven't considered that yet. (To tell the truth I have not even examined how it is attached, but if it comes out, you can take it to a canvas fabricator and have a new one made.)

Can you post some pictures? You can see pictures of mine here: http://www.fiberglassrv.com/board/index.ph...&hl=Finally

Bobbie
