After a few years I finally got a new axle for the trailer. Custom 2600 lb dexter torflex 10deg up. I went with the different angle to gain some ground clearance. I have a tendency to wander off the beaten paths.
Cutting the old axle off was not easy. Had to take a zip cut to the cast swing arms on the axle (or whatever they’re called). Then use a recip saw to cut through the flanges that are welded. After that I cleaned up the frame and lined up the new axle.

Now to weld it on, and figure out how to fit two children on one bed. Hmmm....

So here’s the new axle. In total about 2” more ground clearance. Top image is after, bottom image is before.

So, I always wanted to go off grid, but was afraid to take the plunge.

About a month ago, I bought a 300w solar kit to run our mini fridge.

I wasn’t really sure how much battery or inverter I would need, but did as much googling as possible and settled on an 800w inverter ( to handle the startup of the fridge) and 2 group 31 deep cycle batteries.

Got it all hooked up and got out with it twice now. It appears to work great, about enough battery to go a full day and a half with no sun, and when it’s sunny it fully charged in a few hrs. Overall, I’m quite pleased and now we’re not tied to our extension cord anymore.

This looks awesome. Great job. Sorry if I missed it but where did you find the window seal? Do you have a part number? I sent Vintage trailer supply some pics of what I have and he said they don't have anything.

Which seal were you looking for? There’s a few of them. I used butyl tape to seal the window to the trailer (available at most hardware stores). There’s a rubber track that the sliding windows sit in (I cleaned mine and put them back in). And on the front and rear there’s a rubber wedge type seal that holds the windows in (I reused the old one but made sure the gaps were on the top of the window to prevent leaks).

I need the wedge type seal, mine have hardened and are disintegrating in areas. I've replaced all the butyl already. Fortunately I have no leaks as of now but they look horrible and have shrunk and pulled short of the corners.Click image for larger version

https://www.centralrubberextrusions.com/wedge-gaskets/

A quick search this morning. You may be looking for a wedge type glazing seal. The webpage I posted above makes a few different versions. There’s lots of gasket manufacturers. You may have to order a few samples. I have a bucket full of samples when I was trying to replace the seal on my door.

I’d suggest taking measurements and getting some samples from a few vendors. Maybe even send them a photo. You may find an exact match, but likely it’ll be one that’s similar and works.

Thank you for the link. I'll check it out. I do have one sample on its way from California. Hopefully it works. I was just hoping someone here would have a source already as it seems to be a common problem.

One more question if you don't mind. Our rig is decal free and we would like the back and front decals at least. Do you have a file that you made one from? Or a clean photo of yours with some measurements? Hard to find a clean photo of one on here unless I missed it.

I am camping right now, but as soon as we’re home I’ll send you the vector image for our decal.
