That's right, Debbie. I used chalk
paint as the only thing you need to do is make sure you have a clean surface. That being said, if I had to do it over again, I would lightly sand.
They look great, but the wax has to cure for 30 days to provide some protection. My hubby got one of the cabinets a little damp and the paint discolored and some came off. Not good- but after wax cures, this will be less likely. Then, probably every 6 months, a coat of wax will help.
There are certainly other more durable choices, and if you have kids, pets, etc. better off with a satin or glossier finish paint for durability. I was going for a vintage, driftwood type effect.
