A correction. I said I knew someone with a 1986, 13', it is actually a 1987 made in Midhurst near Barrie, Ontario, Canada.

Eco produced in Aurora, NE in the early 70's.

It's obviously a Boler clone, but I got no history on it at all.
In Bolerama topic - "Eco" (American made Bolers) - an Eco owner reported that their trailer was made by "Century Manufacturing in Aurora Nebraska". Well, at least that adds a company name...

I just bought a 1970 13' boler. Plate is still on, and indicates it was also manufactured in Peace River AB.

Hi Everyone
My 17' 1700 was also built by Neonex Shelter Ltd. Boler Division, Calgary AB. It is a rear gaoucho with all fiberglass cabinetry. It also has a full fiberglass floor. If I find out any more info I will post it.

Why such a checkered history?

Was it a great idea that was very hard to accomplish (the manufacturing)? I understand it was difficult to keep/attract fibreglass workers with the necessary skills (I think I read this on Bolerama).

My brother-in-law in Wpg said he knew some guys who worked at the plant in the earliest days: no masks, no modern protective gear, etc. (1960s, 70s). Hard, dirty work to make such a clean smooth thing.

Or is it the nature of the market for a Leisure Product, depending so much on disposable income, price of gas, family recreation fads and fashions?

So, perhaps this is one of the oldest models still kicking around! Now, since there was no closet door when I bought the trailer, I guess I really don't know for SURE if this is a 1970 or not. That was what I was told when I bought it. Hmm...

Janice: I'm curious what is the serial no. on your 1970 Glass-Fab unit? Is it anywhere near the number on mine? How did you confirm yours is a 1970? Does your closet door have the manufacturer's sticker on it? --Thanks

Mine is a 1970 Boler 1300 with the original name plate as Winnipeg, Manitoba. I believe this was the original Boler plant.

My VIN is 283 and have been told the early years had VIN numbers that were sequential since the first one in '68. This seems to ring true given the numbers produced in 68, 69 and 70.

There are quite a few differences in the early Boler Models including the design of the frame.

Here is a pic of the plate on my boler. mine actually has 2, above/below the electrical connection. The Glass-Fab plate doesnt' have the number on it, but the one above does.

My trailer came with doors on the closet. have looked for numbers on both sides of the door and don't see anything. very few mods to the trailer, so i'm thinking the cupboard and closet door are original.

I was told by the seller that this is 1970, seemed to be confirmed by the tailights, which are not recessed. i understood 1970 was last year they did this.

Trailer: 1973 Boler (Triple E Honey)

Bit of a clarification....My '74, 13'Honey was built by "Boler Manufacturing in Winnipeg" according to the sticker in the cupboard door, and a sticker on the side near the door reads...."Built With Pride-NEONEX" ....so my trailer is technically not a Boler, since there is no Boler badging on it, just the hexagon pattern decal and the "Honey" name on the stone guard over the front window and no "Bee" decals either.... ....Benny
I too own a 13 foot Triple E Honey (including the original front decal with the hexigon pattern on the stone guard) but mine is a 1973. My trailer also includes a boler decal under the roof vent and inside the upper cabinet door (furthest to the right) is the original trailer specs decal. My trailer states that it was manufactured by Boler in Winnipeg. I don't have any "Bee" decals either. I believe mine is a base model as I do not have the front and rear upper cabinets (just the bank of side ones above the sink/stove). As well, mine only has an icebox and does not have a furnace.

Updating using supporting documentation.

Earlton starts production circa January 1972

An article on page 14 of the December-January 1971/72 Manitoba Business Journal posted on http://www.geocities.com/bolerama/bolerbusiness.html says "In 1972 the number of units on sale in Canada will increase considerably becaue of a new franchised manufacturer going into production in Earlton, Ontario, next month."

The same article states (for boler in 1968) that "During Its first year the company produced 40 units from a 4,000-square foot former warehouse on Higgins Avenue" and that due to demand "within a year the company was forced to move to it's present 30,000-square foot plant on Dufferin Avenue."

For the boler American, the article says:
"Elenor International, a large conglomerate headquartered in Witchita, Kansas, had contracted to establish sever Boler trailer manufacturing plants throughout the U.S.
The first three plants will be going into operation in three north-central states in January (1972)"
The article further says 3 molds were made and 2 more were being produced for Elenor International, which makes a total of 5. Crews from the U.S. were being trained -Do Not Post Email Addresses- 770 Dufferin in the past few weeks (December 1971)

Scamps new website (post fire) gives some more history on this page:
http://www.scamptrailers.com/About/TheScampStory.aspx

Circa July 1971 Evelands Inc. negotiated a contract to manufacture boler Americans and that boler American went out of business in late 1972. If production levels were the same as for the first 2 years of the Scamp they producted up to about 130 units of the boler American.
Evelands Inc. was left with the molds and started producing and selling their own trailers under the Scamp label. Production as follows:
130 the first year
about the same the second
500 in 75
600 in 76
700 in 77
These were all 13 footers.

The 16' was developed in 1978 and the 19' 5th wheel in 1981

Scamp's fire was Jan 13 2006 and the main plant was ready in December 2006. Postings here say the 13' model was changed post fire increasing the height by making molds from a 16' body that was shortened. If that is the case 2007 and on 13' trailers should be taller.

I just purchased a Perris Pacer 13'

I have the orginal invoice

It says Perris Valley Campers - then typed in is P.O. Box 788, Perris CA.

There is an address in Oregon that is "x-ed" out - also the Invoice is from Panorama Products Inc - with locations in Perris, Yuda City and Mt. Angel Or.

I also have an orginal brochure - it says Perris Valley Campers - Perris and Yuba City.

Mine is listed as a PP-13 - was purchased for 5,295 + a roof mounted coleman a/c (really bad idea) for 695 and a spare tire for 70

Thanks to a tip from Brian B-P in a posting on Bolerama, I found that you can find messages well past the 3 month limit if you know the thread #.

The fifth thread posted back in the summer of 1999 years ago gives a little info in the various manufacturing plants. Hopefully we can integrate some of that info into what we have been able to uncover so far.

Here's a picture of the rare 15 ft Boler.
I wasn't even aware of it until I saw someone talking about it with Brian on the Bolerama forum.
Mabee he can shed more light on it as to year, mfg plant etc.
