changing tires on Boler 13'

Just got my Boler and am needing to change tires. Is it approved to use a bumper jack on the rear bumper? Looks like it s solid with the side rails--help!
Thanks.
Bill

Jacking a Boler

A used scissors jack from an auto wreckers is most handy and easy to get into tight spaces/clearances. Shouldn't cost more tha $5-10. Princess Auto or Harbor Freight are best for new(about $15)

Check your tow vehicle, the scissor jack in my Sienna works great.

Hi Fred, off-this topic: I use my 2010 Seinna for my 13' Boler (total 1800 lb), wondering if need a Weight Distribution w/ Sway Control. Do you have one? Thanks!

I've never had a problem with sway pulling the boler with anything.
No EQ hitch.

Keep at least 10% of total weight on the ball, make sure you have a little toein on the axle 1/8th to 1/4 inch. and ideally the attitude of the trailer should be nose down a little at speed.

It's been pulled across Canada and back and we take it to California every winter which is where this post came from.
The trip down this winter was terrible, 6 inches snow in places, 3inches slush on I 84 around Boise Id. but no problems towing.

The original Owner's Manual with my 1977 Boler specifically says to use "the bumper jack from your car". When needed, I have been successfully using a bottle jack (or scissor jack) for the past 15 years. This also lifts the body sufficiently to wrestle radial tires in and out.

Thank you all for your info and insights! I did pick up a low profile trolley jack at Harbor Freight and it works perfectly....in my garage!! I will take a bottle jack on trips though.
And as an aside...I just pulled mine from Williamsport PA to Tucson AZ--well enough ahead of the snow- with my 1/2 ton Silverado. No sway and no sway bars needed even in the 30+ Mph winds of New Mexico. Still need to be careful when towing though--almost forget it is there!! Rollin', rollin' rollin', keep that Boler rollin'!

Simple Trailer Jack

For years I have used this little aluminum "Easy Lift" drive-on jack. Lays flat and takes up very little space. Only a little over an inch thick.

Fred, that one is designed to lift the axle tube, no? How do you get around warnings from torsion axle manufacturers not to lift on the axle tube? Wouldn't the rounded slot tend to distort the square tube on most torsion axles as it goes up? How do you deal with soft surfaces?
