Love Bug gone camping

Hello all,
Thank you to all who have helped us and offered encouragement, information, instructions and examples.

You may not believe this, but we actually just returned from a two week camping trip in our little "Frankenstein" Love Bug. I have not posted updates of our progress but I will. It took us months to get the door rebuilt.

We had a few minor glitches and discovered some things that we want to do but definitely road worthy.

We have working electrical. Our battery lasted for the entire trip without recharge. After 3 days of heavy rain we discovered a leak in the ceiling vent and that we need some ventilation for the front end of the camper. ( other than opening the door)

I will post pics and details soon; had to share with our FGforum friends.

Fantastic, it is great to get some use out of your egg. Two weeks without a charge? Were you stationary the whole time or pulling it around and charging off the TV a little?

If you don't already have one you may want to pick up a cheap plug in 12v monitor - never want to run the battery below 50% of it capacity as it will live a very short life....

We were stationary. Off grid. Not knowing what to expect, we were very conservative, only using lights as needed and keeping electronics charged.

Cathy, I know the door was a major PITA. I'm so happy for you that you were able to get out and have some fun! Please post pictures when you can
