1266 is not bad. Just don't put a camper shell on, and keep things to a minimum.

I have a 2011 Tundra dbl cab, 4x4, with tow package, my payload cap is 1360 lbs.

Unfortunately I have a 225 lb camper shell, 220 lb bedslide, so right off I stupidly reduced my capacity to about 915 lbs. I weigh about 240, wife 125, hitch weigh about 500 lbs, so in theory I can only carry a bid of extra gas.

Payload on my Honda Pilot is 1320 pounds and the cargo compartment is already enclosed. When I need to haul cargo in an open bed, my 4x8 utility trailer can carry 2500 pounds without exceeding any ratings of trailer or vehicle. I can also tow up to a 16' molded fiberglass trailer (c. 2500 pounds), allowing margin for cargo and passengers. When not towing or hauling, we can carry two families, 4 adults and 4 kids, for local outings. Gets an honest 25 mpg in rural solo driving, 22 mpg overall average. Fits in a regular parking space and garage.

Tell me again why I need a truck...?

Oh, yes... towing a fifth wheel... one thing I can't do.
