Looking for a lock cylinder or key for my Cadet

I just purchased a Cadet but I can't find the keys. I've drilled out the propane tank cover lock and removed the door lock. I should have never drilled out the one lock because they are the same lock cylinder and there's a good chance they shared the same key.

I've been to a few locksmiths around town but they can't find the blanks to make the key from. I was thinking of replacing the complete cylinder but can't find one that looks like the original one.

Does anyone know where I can get a new lock cylinder from?

It's a 1986 Cadet

Thank you

I would suggest you post a photo or two of the lock and key you need. A 30 year old trailer may have had a lock assembly changed. A photo migh help identifying the lock manufacturer.

I just noticed you have 2 threads started on the same subject. One would be better.

That trailer is common in Europe, manufactured in Poland under a different name. It was called a Predom, but I think it had two names.
Here is a link made by the former owner of a trailer which I bought several years ago there may be some info of value or at least of interest...

Check with a qualified locksmith with a fully stocked shop. Just about every lock set in every travel trailer is generic and only a few types are used in the industry. Once you locate the right locksmith just tow the trailer to his shop and the job will be done in a matter of minutes.

My local locksmith told me he had key blanks and lock sets for just about every RV .

Since your travel trailer is foreign made he might just change out your current lock set for something more easily matched in the future.

Good luck.

Hi,I can tell you (from the UK) that the cadet (freedom microlite or earlier models were called N126 over here) were originally made for the fiat 126 car- my 1986 n126 has fiat keys with fiat stamped on them, try looking on ebay uk! !

Iv just looked on ebay uk and you can buy 2 barrels with 3 keys ,the end of the barrels are different but the keys and the guts/spring loaded brass lifters will swap over (keep them in order 123456) or just blank keys!

It's good to know that Fiat locks might fit. Polskie Fiat was a very common car in Poland during the communist years, so it make sense that the manufacturer of the caravan used a lock that available in big quantities in Poland at that time.

There's also an e-shop in Germany that sells parts to the caravan:
