Today I removed the furnace for servicing. It was quite the job when I had never done this before. I added how I did it to a post on removing a Duotherm in a Trillium 4500.

There was lots of pulling, pushing, shaking, jiggling and I finally got it out. There were several wasp nests in the pipe but they were old.

The other day I started to clean the window tracks and generally all the windows. Some were dirtier than others. They came up fairly well but next year I will have to take them apart and polish them up.

Today I learnt that my Duotherm is a Gravity fed heater not a furnace.

Once you get it formulated to the right mix, let me know. I have a '76 that will need some work. What brand of Gelcoat did you buy, and from where?

I think the furnace needs 12 V or 110 to ignight or run the thermostat. I really don't know though David. I will ask when I go back to pick it up.

I don't really have recipe for the colour Jim. I bought whit Gelcoat at West Marine. It was just their brand. I mixed blue and yellow colour agent into the white. Got the colour way to dark green. I started adding yellow and it just wouldn't lighten up enough. I then started adding more whit which seemed to work.mgot the colour close but still have to tone it down for the final coat.

Tonight I tested the water system. It was fairly mild today. I didn't know if the previous owner had winterized the water system before letting it sit for 2 years. There was no leaks from the tank but there is a drip here and there from the drain. Hoses have no leaks. The faucet works just fine and the sink drains ok. So the water system is good. I'll winterize it this weekend then next spring I will sanitize it.

Today I weighed my 1975 Trillium 1300. It weighed 540 Kg which is 1190 lbs. this is with the furnace/heater out and no propane tanks or water on board.

That is really nice to know the exact weight. We don't carry water and I can't imagine the electric furnace weighing that much - was going to weigh ours this past summer but didn't - thanks for your info!

I had seen too many conflicting weights for the trailer. My ownership says 465 Kg. I just needed to know for a piece of mind.

Days are getting shorter and I am steaming along on the Trillium. To day I replaced the power cord hatch. I removed the rear lights and washed and cleaned. Put a new bulb in and the lens cap was full of crap. No idea how these rusted stuff is still working.

We went at the window frames again today. They have come up pretty good just removing the dirt. Next year I will have to get in there with a tooth brush and remove the dirt, spider poop and everything else that has built up over time. I installed the battery today too. I put new terminals on last week when I replaced one of the marker lights.

We are ready for our first camping trip with the Trillium next weekend. Up to Algonquin Park.

An even more interesting and good to know number is what it weighs once you load it up with all your stuff, food, clothing, chairs etc , just as you plan to tow it..... that number is the one that shocks a lot of people!

The GVW is 1500 lbs. We are actually towing it with a Chev Equinox 4 cyl and we watch the weight for towing. I was going to drop one of the propane tanks. We travel with an empty water tank. The cooler of beer goes in the car. You are right you can pack these things with so much stuff it sure adds up fast.

I used ZEP one time on a Bigfoot 19. It looked good the first year and now 2 years latter it looks bad. I have had good results using Poli-glow and have done many trailers with it. Poli-glow is made for fiberglass sail boats.

Good to know. If I can get a warm day this year I will wax it. I'll have to look more into all these finishes for next season

Not to get into a Zep vs Poli-glow discussion, but several people have reported up to 3 years of good service out of Zep, and it washes off with the engine grease remover setting at the wand wash, and goes back on with minimal effort. Not to mention the cost difference.
