Trillium Furnace

I am in need of a furnace for my 84 Trillium 1300. Does any one know what modern furnace could be used? Fiberglass work, no problem, as long as it is a working furnace. It seems the length is the issue.

Any suggestions?

Pete, A couple of things:
- Trillium stopped manufacturing trailers in 1982, so yours is likely not a 1984. You can compare your serial number to this list to help determine your correct year:

- The furnace in Trilliums was originally what is known as a gravity furnace. These were installed below the sink in 1300's and below the closet on 4500's. They are basically a fire in a box. No electrical requirements, low efficiency, high surface temperature. Around 1979 they were considered a fire hazard. I have not heard of any fires from this, but it must have happened for them to be banned. In the 1300's they replaced them with a Coleman 4312:

One of these in a Trillium can be seen in the following link:

As you can see there were several modifications to the fibreglass. Some have said that the closet looks pregnant.

In the 4500's I have seen several different forced air furnaces installed in the curb side seat of the dinette. I can't figure out why that was not done with the 1300's

Thanks Dave for all the good info.. I think I'm still looking to use a modern furnace, but in the same location as the old gravity one. The problem is the cabinet depth. Most that I have looked at like the Suburban NT16 SE have a length of aprox. 24 in., my cabinet is aprox. 171/2 in.. Any input would be appreciated.

Pete, That is why Trillium had to make a pregnant closet. I don't think you will find a forced air furnace that fits under the sink. Otherwise Trillium would not have made this compromise. If you plan to use a modern furnace, then I think your best bet would be to install it under a dinette seat.

Probably your best option would be a Propex furnace. They are not cheep, but those that have installed them seem to like them:

But personally, I like the original gravity furnace under the sink, in front of the wheel well, where it uses space that would otherwise be wasted.
