Help! removing decal from back Scamp window

Hi All,

There is a Skull & Crossbones decal on the back window of my project Scamp. Since I am not a Skull & Crossbones sort of gal, I've tried to remove it. So, far I've used soapy water, vinegar, WD-40, with no success. I'm concerned about damaging the window since it's not glass.

Any suggestions on how to remove the darn thing!?!

I just removed all the faded out decals on my Casita. The trick for me was peeling a corner just enough I could grab it with a needle nose pliers then pull it up.

On glass I would use some heat first. Once it is off, WD40 should clean up the residue.

It sounds like you're talking about removing the decals from the outer fiberglass shell.

My challenge is attached to the back window of the Scamp which is plexiglass or some kind of acrylic.

Surprised window isn't glass. Still the fingernail trick should work. Get a corner up, doesn't take much, grab it with needle nose pliers and start peeling.

Heating it might help. A hairdryer set on low heat will loosen some adhesives. Careful. Too much heat could damage the window.

I have heard that using something like olive oil, soaking the sticker and letting it sit, and then using a plastic credit card could work. Good luck!

Have had good success with using a hairdryer as well. Heat up the whole decal well.

Once you have a corner lifted keep using the hairdryer on it and pull it off nice and slow and steady and evenly and you will have a better chance of a lot of the adhesive coming off with it at the same time.

Hi-I removed decals off a brand new truck with no problem. Steam. I used a clothing steam gun. Hot steam does the trick, Wear gloves,long sleeves and closed shoes. Those are all precautions with live steam.

If you use the steam on your clothing burning the material, the plexi or acrylic will hold up.

Goo-gone or something at your hardware store will remove the stick stuff.

Maybe you mean a razor blade. Heat will help on vinyl decals. Paper ones will tear easily.

Well, I'll give all these ideas a try.

I have tried the hair dryer before unsuccessfully.

It seems like it would be an easy thing to do, but I'm sure not getting anywhere. Maybe I'm being too gentle because I don't want to mar the window.

I used a razor blade to remove a sticker from my enamel stove cover, and peeled some paint off with it. Now I need to find a sticker to cover it.

The cannola oil and gentle pressure with the razor blade worked. There is still some adhesive and I'll get some Goo Gone for that. I had been afraid to use the blade so I was very, very gentle.

Oh, No! That's not good... That's why I'm so leery to use one on acrylic.

Be very careful when applying heat with a hair dryer. Too much heat and the acrylic window in a boler/scamp window will 'stretch' the window and you'll end up with an obvious 'bump' in the acrylic. Please don't ask how I KNOW this. The Mrs. and I are now investigation the costs of replacing an entire warped window. PS: most of the dozen decals that had been placed on our rear window by the PO, were easily removed with the 'pick' and 'pull' method mentioned in an earlier response - BUT, one of them caused our grief!
