The weight listed on the title is 1822 lbs. In Ohio a trailer must be weighed before it can be titled. The tongue weight is listed on the trailer itself. It is 350 lbs. Also, this camper has 3" frame rails as opposed to 4" rails on the regular units, hence the lighter tare weight. Jim Palmer had built this camper for himself -- we just happened to want one and this one was ready to go.

You are the first person I know of who has the actual weight of their EggCamper. When someone asks me, I tell them "around twenty-five hundred pounds." Maybe now I'll change that to two thousand pounds. I did weigh my tongue and it was 281 pounds - I hope I did it correctly.

BTW, I just checked my EggCamper frame and it also has three inch rails. Will some other EggCamper owners check theirs and see if three or four inches is the standard?

More data for the curious. Our local farmers coop has a certified drive-on truck scale and some really helpful owners, so I took our EggCamper in and did some weighing. Ours is a 2010 model with 4" frame rails, single taillights on each side and a single center-mounted roof vent. Note that our EggCamper has been modified to have three deep cycle batteries mounted on the tongue, not just one, and we also have a power tongue jack instead of the hand-crank version. Combined, I'm guessing the two extra batteries and power jack add roughly another 100 pounds to the camper (45 lb/battery + 10 lb jack) with the vast majority of that weight carried by the tongue. Other than that, our Egg Camper is pretty much like it came from the factory.

With that said, dry weight on our EggCamper was 2,520 pounds (probably 2,420 without the two extra batteries and power jack). When hitched, 380 pounds of that (15%) is transferred to the tow vehicle. We've removed one of the batteries simply because we don't need it, and that drops the tongue weight to 335 lb, just under the 350 lb tongue rating of our 2002 Highlander. Our Ford F250 is rated for 500 lb tongue weight, so it's well within the limit even with all three batteries on board. I just thought other owners out there might want to know. Dale
