New 6" memory foam w/gel mattress-custom made for Scamp

Got our mattress......we got a front dinette so that we can leave the bed made all of the time.
The mattress is multi-layer densities of memory foam with gel infused top foam. Then covered with coated nylon top cover and vinyl bottom cover that is bacteria resistant, flame retardant, fluid resistant, anti-static, non-allergenic, stain resistant, and easy to clean....lol......at least that's what our sales brochures state about our mattresses.
Now we have under the rear table set up for storage.

I'm 99% sure he is referring to Adjustable Mattress for a Lifetime | Verlo Mattress

On a different site he said, "I thought about costing it out and seeing if there is interest from the Scamp community."

I started with one inch memory foam and now have three inch memory foam that I cut to size for a Scamp. Its OK but not as nice as my home bed, and it remains uncovered except for a sheet I throw on top. A better solution at low cost with be very welcome.

Mattress

I work for a company that has a mattress manufacturing plant in Georgia.

The folks there made this special for me as a sample.

I will ask to see what these will cost to manufacture on a regular basis, then let everyone know and if there is interest, then maybe they'll do it.

These will ship in 2 cartons like this.

This is for my Deluxe w/Big Bed

I wouldn't imagine there is much of a price difference for the standard bed

We live just a few miles from Southern Mattress Company in Rocky Mount, NC and have had them make custom matresses for both our 16' and our 19' Scamps. They actually have a Casita tab on their website Southern Mattress, a Premium Economy Custom Mattress Manufacturer, Nationwide Delivery, Toll Free 1-800-227-8701

Good people with a good product.

I saw the Casita tab you mentioned at their website. Are the Casita beds the same as Scamp? I have a Scamp 13 standard. I would have no idea how to measure all those wall contours unless I made them a template somehow.

Do you mind if I ask what you paid for your Casita mattress from SMC?

CampyTime - Sorry, I don't know how Casita and Scamp compare with respect to bed size but give them a call and I'm sure they can talk you through how to get the necessary measurements. I doubt they'll need it but I'll gladly run my 19' by there if it will be of any help. Just let me know with a PM.

Johnny M - They have several options regarding thickness, cover material and memory foam density and its been five years since I had them make our last one but I think we paid around $600 for one with all the bells and whistles. I still prefer our water bed (yeah, I'm really old) but this is a close second.

I ordered one for my Scamp 16 several years back and it was around $600. This was the most expensive one offered. They do offer other less expensive options. It is a lot of money but your back will fall in love with you when you wake up in the morning. I tried memory foam toppers of all sorts but nothing worked. I got the most expensive model because this was going to be my last attempt to make the bed comfortable. It is one of the best investments I have made yet for my Scamp. hey also had the Scamp bed size measurements in house. I suggested that they put Scamps as well as Casitas on their website but they never did. I host the LBL Fall rally Oct 6-9, 2017. I will be happy to allow anyone interested to see and try my mattress at the rally.

Dennis,

Thanks for posting. Might be worth looking into if they could make a less expensive model. I'm assuming the 16' Scamp dinette bed is same size as a 13, unless you have the 54" bed?

Cheers!

Bed Mattress

We have a local commercial foam mattress dealer that used the pattern, from the cushions, and cut it out. Now the good commercial mattress have a dense foam band, about 5 inches or so around the edge of the mattress to keep some stability. Since ours was not the full size of the queen he started with he left the dense trim on the side we get in and out of the bed. The mattress is near 6" thick and we leave it on all the time. It is easy enough to lift the aisle side or the ends to access the rear storage.

We purchased a 8" memory foam mattress and just cut it to size using a hot knife, we had to open the cover that came on it to cut it down, but after trimming and sewing it back together it fits really well, only cost us about $150, we started with a full size mattress.

What about for the Scamp Fifth Wheel? Making that bed is a real challenge.

You brought up a hot topic for me. I assume that you are talking about the 19ft Deluxe, with the sleeping area really blocked off by the bathroom. We use queen size fitted sheets, just because my DW thinks that is the way it should be. I would like to cut off the rubber band and the margin and just lay the mattress pad and the sheet on top and tuck in the edges. The way it is now is a real workout.

Yes, how do other Scamp 19D users do it? We are a small subset of the membership, but there must be some good ideas out there!
