Power converter on 85 Scamp 16

I replaced the original interior light in my scamp with led's. They work on 12v but do not work on 120v. After some checking with a multi meter it seems the polarity changes when you flip the switch on the converter. Is that normal? My scamp has a B-W Manufactures 3200 converter.

That is not normal.
I would check the wiring from the converter as that would be a bad thing for the battery as well as the lights!
It should blow fuses when you turn on the converter it it is connected to the battery and it would definitely not charge the battery, either.

In 1985 nobody cared about the polarity of the light fixtures, LED lights were a science fiction!

Plugging into shore power should not make a difference. Is the problem on all lights, or on some of them? If it is some of them, swap the wires feeding the fixtures, if it is all of them, there might be a way to swap the wires at the convertor.

It is on all the lights. The range hood still works though. It does not blow any fuses either. Btw there is only one fuse and that is in the converter.

Check the wiring at the battery. If your wiring is stock, -->BLACK<-- is POSITIVE.

Ditto to what Dan Meyer posted, i.e., FIRST make sure the battery is wired to match the polarity of the converter. Next, if necessary, correct the LED light fixture wiring to match the battery and converter.
