78 Boler hot water tank

Hi
My hot water tank sprung a leak this last weekend. It was dripping cold water inside the trailer, so I would think it was from the intake line. Before I remove it to inspect, I thought I would ask. Do the factory hot water tanks come apart so that they can be repaired or am I looking at a replacement?

If you (and any number of p.o.'s) got 35+ years out of a water heater I'd call it very lucky. You didn't mention what make water heater you have, but most are not readily repairable at that age.

Ooops, I hit post to quickly....

But, if it is dripping cold water when it is hot I'd put my bet on a line/fitting rather than the tank.

On most tanks, about all there is inside is a dip tube on the cold water input to be sure that the incoming water is directed towards the flame tube.

If you can connect the city water to the system it might be a bit easier to find the source of the leak.
