Bigfoot 17 awning width
Hi all,
We are looking to replace the awning on our Bigfoot 17 (older 1500 model). Just wondering what is the maximum width we can use? The current awning is a little narrow for us.

Do you mean the distance it runs out from the trailer? And are you talking about installing a new set of awning hardware or just replacing the fabric on an existing one?

We are looking at the length of the trailer (not how much it comes out). Specifically we would like the awning to cover the windows so we can open the windows even in the rain. Right now only half of the rear window is covered.

If you have the original 10' awning, I doubt you have any optIon for a longer one. They come in a limited number of fixed lengths and the next longer one would be too long.

You looked for something like this, to install left side.
I saw someone had made himself, fixed the rod with a specific 3M tape to receive the curtain, and used awning pole suction cup to keep the base.

Jacqueline,
I found a series of photos that a person sent me in 2014.
I am sure you will appreciate, as well as several other members.

Gilles, what great photos! Thank you for remembering them and doing this post. I have solid windows in the front and back of my Scamp and I don't want to block the view while driving with a rock guard. This would be a lightweight answer for that blazing sun while camped.

And the last:
The pipes are pvc plumbing pipes.
Remember that it is better to insert a copper pipe in the horizontal part, to give it enough rigidity.
I myself have not yet experienced it, but it should not be long.
Have a good day,

. . . and a question.
Does the window awning just snap down for travel?

No, I would not try to take the road without removing it.
It only takes a few seconds to unhook and it takes very little space to store it.
