13' Cadet travel trailer

Hi folks,

I'm in the market for a small fiberglass trailer and ran across a 13' Cadet for sale on this site. I am more familiar with the egg-shape trailers.

Can anyone share with me the pros and cons of the Cadet vs a Burro, U-Haul, Casita, Scamp, etc.? Many thanks.

Regards,

Rich

Aren't they a pop top? So lower roof less drag. What is your tow vehicle and what is your camping style?

I had one for rehab ,but never got to finish it.
IT IS A TOTALLY COOL TRAILER!
It has a 5'4" interior height as I recall, with a small pop-up section over the kitchen.
It is constructed of panels which may or may not actually be fiberglass.
It has bubble plastic windows and the interior is constructed of something like 1X2s with 1/8" plywood for cabinets. The walls are covered with a soft fabric.
It has 12" tires with a ring welded to the wheel to accept 13" wheel covers.
This thing is the lightest trailer I have ever towed.
It has handles on the corners which allow you to toss it around the yard by hand like a kid's wagon.
The door is a great design with a really nice latch design.
One drawback is that it requires the interior to be in place to tow it because the shell can be very wobbly without the reinforcement provided.
The trailer is a Polish design built in Canada from imported parts.
It is lighter and more fragile than a conventional molded fiberglass trailer and the windows often have cracks and are hard to find.

Yup, it's a pop up. I'll tow it with a 1985 Toyota Camry, with a transmission cooler. Thanks.

Many thanks Floyd.

What do you mean by "One drawback is that it requires the interior to be in place to tow it because the shell can be very wobbly without the reinforcement provided." What reinforcement? Thanks again.

I have towed all kinds of trailers, in all kinds of condition.
That comment was just an observation based on towing mine home with the interior disassembled.
A typical molded fiberglass trailer, with no interior is a bit of a "pillar of jello" on the road and may require tying the door shut to tow it.
With the Cadet I found that I had to stabilize the side walls to keep them from wobbling since they are thin and flat.
Not a problem really unless you want to gut the trailer and tow it at speed or if you buy someone else's project already gutted.(as I did)

Cadet's are NEATO. The only con I can think of off the top of my head is the front window is impossible to find/replace, although they are available for sale in Europe!

Let us know how it goes for you

Thanks Donna,

We're getting the title straightened away and I expect to have it in about a week. I will keep you posted.
