Hi, Ken

We're talking about aerodynamics at http://www.fiberglassrv.com/forums/f...s-46175-3.html
and Donna reminded us of your front V- shaped mod.
We wondered if reducing wind drag was your purpose???

Thanks!

Francesca

Cutting the wind

Hi Francesca

Interesting topic , I looked at the thread about aerodynamices and came across #33 Alfred's Escape, it looks like it would cut through the wind great. He has a nice combo there.

The main reason I closed in the front was to help keep the bedroom warmer and gain some storage . Now that it is not a flat front it should help in the gas mileage I hope . Any little bit will help at nearly $6.00 a gallon

All the best

Ken

Removed old 9 inch vent [ leaker ] and installed skylite over shower , brings in a lot of light ,I will install a 14 x 14 vent in the bathroom also .

I sold my roof a/c last weekend . Many are installing window a/c units but mounting them in the bottom of their closet I plan to do the same I think it is a great idea. Any brands come to mind?

Thanks Ken

Hi Dawn

I can remember not to long ago you were just finishing off your own reno on your 17' If I recall you had a very cool backsplash. Can't wait to be done , things are going slow but I only want to do things once. Measure and measure again, it is a game of inches to get it all in

Weather is getting better hope you get to use your rig.

Shooting for Oct. to be done.

Take care

That backsplash does really rock :)

It's my favourite feature! You might want to consider it for your work of art!

Here is the link at the Home Depot site:
Slate Mosaik - 1 Piece | Home Depot Canada

They are very easy to install, they look really nice, and are easy to keep clean.

Have fun! Can't wait to see more photos. I just bought a 12 foot Dolphin that I am going to overhaul. Mostly cosmetic, although I was considering having some of the cabinetry rebuild - it just seems a bit flimsy. Although the framework of the trailer is excellent and I am very happy with the layout.

I will post pics as I go.

Again - congrats on a great job. It must be very fulfilling work!

On line did find a side mount trailer a/c with vent that is like the water heaters. The unit fits under a cupboard; like rear Gaucho or front table seat or other area. It is made to be in a trailer; should take the ride well and would not have to be removed to travel as it is flush with side. The low position would not upset the center of gravity, it seemed a better idea for a boler due to roof design. Was more in line with cost of a roof mount RV unit than home window unit.

Hi Borden ,

The unit you are talking about sounds like a coolcat a/c is that the one you were looking at? When I owned my surfside I had on problem getting on the roof to check seals and vents ,but with the bigfoot roof there is no contours or corners to give it some strength. There will be support from cabinets and walls ,but I still like the idea of the a/c supported by the floor in a cabinet and not the roof.

I found some free time to install my fridge vents . Here are some pics, one vent just above my furnace and the other through the roof . It will be some time before the fridge goes in because it has to come through the dinette window which will not be cut in until the dinette is built . That way I can centre the window. Fridge is to big to come in the door

Able to check a couple more things off my list, Waterheater is now installed 6 gallon pilot model . Also picked up a bed liner kit to protect the front end of the trailer ,when doing the bodywork I noticed damage behind the wheel wells from rocks . So ran a 3" strip along bottom edge to hopefully stop that .

Thanks

Ken,

I have followed this thread with fascination. I so admire you for having the guts to do this. I have this secret dream of molding together a CT with my VT to get a larger Uhaul, but you had the fortitude to "git 'er done."

Hey Cindy ;

If you ever get started on your V.C.T. Trailer be sure to post it I would love to see it, that would be awesome. It would be pushing 28' long. Thanks for following the progress. Learning a lot, so I can say with confidence this is my last time never again . But I will keep a lookout for your project

Take care

Don't look too hard. It will never happen. We don't have the courage that you did on this project.

How are you attaching the vertical wood walls to the trailer? Just a couple strips of fiber glass?
