before you go much further I would check the torsion axle...my 71 Ingersol Rub R Ride was wore out and I replaced it with a Dexter #9 for around $200 or so

Ty. Torsion appears still fine. At least it is light to Jack up if I need to grind off and replace....Lol

Mine did too until I noticed my brand new tires had severe tread wear on the inside shoulder of both tires, up close you couldn't tell but when I looked at them from a distance in a large parking lot you could see the tires leaning in towards each other. If it is the original axle you will probably find a small plate on the axle tubing close to one side that reads "Ingersol Rub R Ride". Mine had paint on it but cleaned off you could see the embossing of the letters. If you find that I would highly recommend replacing it, but it is possible yours has been replaced since 1970 (but not likely).

I hope it is ok. I am doing this rebuild for one camping trip per year. But I will definitely look for odd wear on the tires. Thanks for the heads up. I will also look for what that plate says. Didn't even think of looking at it. Good info.

Shell sanded and area around old vent sanded down to cover up. All cracks sanded away to start repairs. Now to move outside degrease and wash. Then repairs start this week.

First wash

Washed the shell down from sanding. I missed a few spots.
