Truly a job well done

Thanks

Hi Brayden,

O.K....that is truly one impressive paint job!! Mario looks 3-D!
I have a couple of questions for you since we are new Boler owners and plan to do a complete restoration as you are, fixing some of the problems of the original. One of them is the door. I have read a door repair solution that involves making a frame from 1" square aluminum tubing (bending it to fit the shape of the opening) which is quite a bit of work but seems like the best way to go. Your door seems to fit perfectly. What did you have to do to your door.
My second question is...how did you reattach your cabinets. I have begun to take the Boler apart and steel (now rusted) screw and rivets through the shell seems to be an invitation for water to find it's way in. My thought is to glue (construction adhesive I think) and fiberglass plywood blocking and attach cabinets to that. I'm curious how you did yours.

You are doing a fantastic job. Thanks for all your great pictures and info!

Hay thanks I got good friends
He does amazing work
Mobairbrush.com check his other work
Let me now what you think

As for you reply I had a good door to start with. I did add some bars to the inside and bolted them in the corners (can't see them, I drilled threw the old wood than fiberglassed over the bolts.)

And for the cabinets I used an AUTOBODY two part urethane from my store offshore autobody supplies
Any auto body shop or supply store will have the glue . ( they use it for bonding panels)
It is amazing stuff
I even glued some wood to the fiberglass so I had something to attach wires to

The urethane I used is ProForm 7773
There is different dry times from 30 sec( to fast) up to 45 min.

I used the 1 min for small stuff and the 10 min for larger stuff like the cabinets and closet.

The only down side is you need a special gun to use it
That retail for60$ but most places have one you can borrow with a refundable deposit

We do
We charge you for the gun and give you credit when it comes back but most keep the gun because the glue works on everything

I hope this helps

Prep for the glue is ruff up the fiberglass , clean, than goo away

Be careful once it's dry it's staying there so make sure if you need more time use the longer glue ...

Hope this helps
Any more q
I love to help any way I can

Hey Brayden,
I really enjoyed your progressive photos......"a picture is worth 1,000 words".
Now that I have seen the process for refurb of a Boler I am so glad that I PASSED on buying that $900. Boler advertized on Craig's List last February in
TACOMA. On my way to Tacoma to see it, the seller's husband celled me to say
they did NOT have a title. I kept going and it was a 'gutted' egg. They were both in the Army and used it to haul their stuff to and from assigned locations.

I looked it over and several things warned me that I did NOT have what it would take to restore it...namely, no cabinets, no fridge ($785.) sink, pump,
cook top, cushions....etc.. Also it sat very low and had lots of black scum inside.

The seller seemed to me to be very odd, they changed their story three times........so I hit the road....without the egg.

Braydon.......thank you so much for your great pictures and comments !

Cool thanks. I also kinda just referred you to someone who was looking for the ensolite supplier you used to put the new insulation inside. WISH I had your skills and the facilities to do something like that!

Siris, you got my attention that is one incredible job your doing, cudos to you and your friends. That is somthing to be real proud of. I recently started on my Scamp, not nearly as much to do on mine and I am stressing over that. Good luck, and as others have said keep the pictures comming.
