Typical military Welfare & Recreation department rental units.
Both trailers look to be the same, only the lot numbers are different.

2 Casitas up for Government auction.

These two Casitas are up for government auction starting Oct. 16. If you are on the East Coast are interested in a fixer upper. Here you go. Mine came from an air base sale. I had to put about $400 into it. It turned out to be a decent unit. These units look to be about 10 years old. I have curtains and these have blinds. Looks like a couple of 16' units w/o bath. I am told Casita started using blinds about 10 years ago. I sent an email asking if the buyer will get a government title. I did when I got mine. I will post their answer.
Anyone near Ft. Meade, Md. that can check them out for everyone?
I find it interesting that they say there is no Sn. I can see tags on both of them right where the Sn should be.

I called Government liquidations. They told me that proper paperwork will be issued to enable a person to get a title. I also got a number of someone at Ft. Meade and left them a message asking about the vin numbers since I could see the tags. Hopefully he will call back and I will try to get them to go look.

Dudley,I would help if I know to check this section. I now see you already you posted info on them. I agree they just either got lazy or didn't know enough to look the trailer over since it was pretty obvious that vin tags are there.
I got mine from the Outdoor rec people at my AF base. They had their own sale. If your base or post has one of those it may pay to contact them about excess equipment sales. Those don't get national exposure like this.

Hi Gene, when I found them, I had just been checking out the auction site for the hell of it. Maryland is just too far far for me! I could do North Dakota though! If you see that they are selling them off again near you, fire me a message! Don't know the logistics of selling to a Canadian, I tried to get on a base in Arizona this spring to visit a museum but was turned back"no Canadians allowed"

Tires and frame look ok as far as what can be seen in a photo. You would be best to have the brakes and bearings checked before going too far. Looks like one of the units has bearing savers installed. Also you would need to know what hookup they use and check the lights.

now for the disclaimer You have to remember that these are used and sold "as is where is" and my comments do not imply any "expert opinion"

The two I got in the past both had the 4 wire flat hookups. No brakes. They usually are pretty good about maintenance so I would think that the bearings are ok. To be sure what I did when I got one of mine was to find a garage nearby and make arrangements for an inspection and possible bearing repack. I also had them work on taillights on one of them. They worked fine on the other one. The first one was in Duluth, Mn. The second one was in Grand Forks, ND only about 110 miles. Everything seemed ok so I just drove it home. They usually don't have propane tanks. I scrounged mine at rummage sales. Paid $10 for one with a tabletop grill included. It was full of gas too!
If more are up for sale in ND I intend to bid. If the price is right I can make a few bucks.

My father was posted to Duluth with the Canadian Air Force from 69-72 and we had a great time there. I didn't think the base was still open. He also served at Malmstrom in Great Fall Mt. before retiring.

There is an Air National Guard base at this time. Don't know what was there back then. That's interesting. What did you dad do?

He was and FCO "fighter control officer" or "scope dope" and worked in the Sage building. We were mostly posted to "Pinetree Line radar sites" in eastern and central Canada but got posted to Duluth for 3 years. Strangely enough my brother was senior class president of Duluth Central High.

I have a 98 and I am pretty sure they are newer. I would guess early 2000's. The blinds instead of curtains are a newer addition.

They say there is no SN. Someone just didn't bother to look at all. In one photo you can see the tags on the lower left front. One on the tongue and the other the lower front corner just to the lower right of the orange running light. They still havn't gotten back to me on my call.
