After 4 fun years, we're selling our 1988
Casita 13'
Fiberglass travel trailer. This model features a closet and bathroom (with toilet and shower) in the front. A collapsible dinette / full bed are in the rear. The stovetop and sink are on one side, with storage and a
fridge by the door. In addition to the full-height closet, there are many storage compartments for bedding, kitchen supplies and the like.
Since we bought it in 2013, we've:
- Bought new OEM cushions with custom fabric
- Replaced the subfloor and carpeting
- Replaced the (tiny) water tank with a 23+ Gallon underslung ABS tank
- Upgraded nearly all of the cold water piping with modern PEX
- Upgraded most all of the lighting to LEDs, including a red / white dual color overhead light for night use
- Installed an inverter to provide 110V power when operating off of battery
- Moved the lead-acid battery from inside the living compartment to the tongue (safer!)
- Added a battery trickle charger
- Added a new marine deep cell battery
- Added a brita tap-mounted water filter
- Replaced signal lights
- Replacing the tires, including the spare
I have never used
propane with this camper. The previous owner used it, and demonstrated the
furnace and stove when we bought it. The original piping was cracked, however, and I have never trusted it or repaired it. The hot water heater was in horrible shape, and I haven't replaced that pending the overall
propane repair. You could either install an electric hot water heater (~$400), repair the
propane lines, or live without hot water as we have done happily for four years :-)
Selling because I now have two children, and you really can't fit two kids, a dog, and two adults in this camper! Absolutely perfect for a couple, or a couple with a young one. A mini pack-n-play fits into the bathroom perfectly, if you leave the toilet at home.
