Just saying Hello and yes, I am a New Casita Owner.

Hello to everyone here!

I purchased a 1994 Casita Deluxe 16' this past week from a wonderful couple. They needed a larger travel trailer and let the Casita stay stored in the garage since last year due to the sentimental value of it and the memories they shared with it. I was lucky enough to see the advert and buy it the very next day that they posted the ad on Craigslist. The man (retired) has spent 2 days already going over all about the trailer and riding down the road with me while I took it out for a test tow run with my vehicle (2008 Honda Ridgeline).

The extras that they have (thrown in) to get me one the road and camping are also a big plus. These people remind me of me when I do business. It is nice to join in with great people in the camping world. I look forward to taking my Casita across the country soon. I took it straight to an RV Specialist for a few upgrades and a full exterior facelift. It will "Shine like a Pearl" are the words of the RV Specialist before I left my Casita with him for the week. Don't get me wrong, even though the Casita has some age, it is in great shape. I just improve on everything that I have/do. And the interior is next. But I will have for this cold snap to pass before starting the inside. I will post before and after pics later.

I have traveled the country for the last 18 years and now I will have even more freedom on where I stop for a rest/break/mini vacation. I am open to hearing all of your suggestions/comments/hints if you care to take the time to post them. Thanks for having me onboard! Currently in the Florida Panhandle (Emerald Coast).

Like you we now have our first fiberglass trailer. Next summer will be the first real test. 16' is a great size. Lots of fun to be had: great group learned a lot reading the posts about the care and feeding of our new camper. I'm sure you will enjoy the groop.

Hello from down the road in Pensacola. I hope we run into you one of these (warmer) days. Let us know when/where you're going camping and we just might join you. We want to try Topsail and Grayton Beach State Parks down your way, and eventually St. George Island. We are also thinking of doing the Townsend Eggscursion get together again this spring with the Egg Camping Club of GA, AL, & TN. We joined them last spring and had a very good time with some great folks.

Welcome! You're really lucky to have been able to find a Casita off craigslist. I tried for over a year out here in California, and countless times even though I've called the same day, or day after an ad is posted, the trailer's sold.

Well, I had my 1994 Casita painted to match my Honda Ridgeline (white) and got it back yesterday. She shines like a new Pearl now and looks brand new. I will call her the "Minnie Pearl". Many of the other owners of small Casita's seem to incorperate "egg" into thier names, but I will go with "Minnie Pearl". I am Southern and it suits me.

I have also made some minor changes to her today, but not all that I will make. She only had one propane tank so, I bought a new regulator and cross-over valve and two new 18 inch hoses and made a two tanker out of her instead of the single tank that I bought her as. I also went to my local Camping World and bought a cover for the two propane tanks and a full/empty valve so I could know how much propane was in each tank at all times. Then I went to Ace Hardware and bought a cut to fit security chain and lock, to secure the tanks to the frame of the trailer. Cause, you can never fully trust the other guy......... I also bought a 6 lb LED HDTV flat screen today.

Tomorrow, I am installing the wall mounted swiwel 22" flat screen LED HDTV and my Blueray player in the rear left of the trailer. Nothing like laying in bed watching the latest Blueray DVD...... That's it for now.

Near St George now and will like to do the Townsend thing also. But then, off to the northwest again and Alaska.

Congratulations. There is a Quartzsite Gathering in Feb. for fiberglass RV's you may be interested in. It's my first time with a RV also and will be heading that way to see how dry camping is. Not only can an RV be used for fun, but also for disasters. We've had a week of rain here, the rivers are raging and some of the roads are underwater. I've thought of using mine to head for higher ground if things get really wild here.
