Trillium broken into...
Someone tried to break in through my back window. He tore out the bottom two panes and frames on the left side.
I had one of our local window guys come out and he said he couldn't repair it. Does anyone have a line on a 24"x48" jalousie window?
Thanks,
Maxine

I'm sorry I can't help with your window but what a scary experience. Do you mind if I ask where it happened and what the park's response was?
Glad you weren't hurt!

It was in a campground on the outskirts of my city, Yellowknife. The park has been great. He is now banned from all of the parks and they are re-writing the policy on people who are disorderly (he had been reported earlier in the evening).

"Banned from all the parks"? He committed a felony. Belongs in prison, not on a ban list.

The RCMP were called and they did find him about 3 hours later. He was taken into custody and will be charged.

That's good to hear. Anyone bold enough to enter another person's trailer in the middle of the night is a positive danger to society.

You should post a pic of the window. Anyone who says it is not repairable probably means it might be too expensive to repair. Anything is repairable with enough time and know how.

A jalousie should just be a matter of inserting new panes unless the supports are damaged. Crappy luck.
I think the advantage of our little old campers is that we don't look prosperous enough to bother.

Maxine--this stinks! I am so sorry to hear about the break-in attempt. Glad to hear the RCMP got their man!
Will you still be able to use the unit until the window is repaired?
I hope this is an isolated incident for you and that it won't spoil your summer. Will insurance cover any damages?

I agree with Joe. The folks at Hehr are very helpful, and I've read several threads where an owner contacted them about a part that is no longer made, and turned out they had some spares.

Your discription of the damage indicates frame damage so a simple glass replacement is not the answer. Replace the entire unit. I have seen a video on how to do it and it is very simple. Any professional RV repair shop can handle the replacement and if you are insured simply obtain a copy of the RCMP police report and the invoice for the repair....if it exceeds the deductible on your policy the check will be in the mail....call your insurance company for the forms.
If no insurance...get out your check book!!
Happy Camping

Do you have an escape hatch in that window? If not, I may have what you need. Where are you located?

You can purchase an alarm for near to nothing at Harbor Freight. It makes a loud noise. Just may scare them away.
