Scamp Hitch Connection - Green & Tarnished

I noticed that the plug from the Scamp & our Ford Escape is very tarnished with a green type coating that I am worried will cause a not so good connection.

How would I go about cleaning this up without having to install a new plug? Thanks

I'd mix up a paste of baking soda and water, paint it on the connectors, watch for effervescence. Then rinse the baking soda off and spray with electrical contact cleaner.

You can also try some Spray Battery Post Cleaner from your local auto supply store.
