Also. It was indeed glassed on. No sign of rivets or anything like that. It's would take several coats to support body weight but I think it's doable. Post pictures if you wind up doin dot please!

Thanks for the information. The idea of glassing that back in seems daunting. I saw a post from a guy who used extruded aluminum. Of course he noted that he could have saved his pocketbook had he used pure gold. But a modified version of his frame might be the way to go. Really, one just need to create an adequate and stable support on the back wall. I've got a year to think about it. In the meantime, I will be watching your updates closely. I might start a blog to document my projects and trips. If you start one, please let me know and I will subscribe to it.

Final interior shot and my very simple solar system. Scamp used some crazy wiring like black for positive and white for negative. In one case black for both positive and negative. So a couple runarounds with the voltmeter and I got it all squared away. I had a 12 volt deep cycle laying around already so I used it, but I will hopefully upgrade to dual 6 volts down the road. The battery run the light and the power inverter for some juice while dry camping. 45 watt panel should do for now. Overall I'm happy with the outcome. It need new front and back windows but that will have to wait too. Gonna replace the window ac unit seen in some pictures soon too, but they aren't cheap either. Also I had an idea today to do a quick connect to the truck ( the bedroom) with the 12 volt system to put a couple lights maybe a dc plug too. Click image for larger version

More little stuff messing around with the solar system. A 6 dollar meter off amazon came today....a 10 minute project. I think I will hook it up to a rocker switch so it's not on all the time. I recessed it with my dremel. Fun little tool.Click image for larger version

Are you taking off windows, vents, lights, trim, etc before you paint?

It is interesting to see that your 82 has the original windows. Mine must have been replaced some time ago with the sliding windows. I wish that I had your windows. If you replace the front and back windows, let me know. I saw a great tip for saving time with the window gaskets. While this is for a truck window, you can see how it would apply to the front and back Scamp s.

Awesome video. Way helpful. One of these days I will replace the glass but for now I don't mind the little cracks in it. They don't go all the way through. Have you done the glass yourself? It's seems like that is the ticket with the string. Yeah, I got lucky with those windows. They don't leak or anything and the gear that lift it up and down work like they were brand new! Got a week of sun here in charleston coming up so wait for the paint job pic this coming early week I hope. Thanks again!

What an awesome job you're doing. Do you have a first camping outing on the horizon yet?

We do. We are based out of charleston sc so, St Augustine for a quick weekend after the painting (4 hours or so) then a big river trip down the edisto river with the scamp at the final destination for the reveal to some of my friends following this rebuild from day 1. Purchased in Hendersonville nc in April 2013, I'm the second owner. 1500$ bucks. The fella was done camping and wanted a tractor. Been to California and back already got 7000 plus on her belt. Headed back to Ca first week of April with a brand new look!
