Proud Owners of 1987 Bigfoot Fifth Wheel!

Hi Everyone,

I've been lurking on this forum for months but never posted.

The stars became aligned on Christmas day, causing my wife and me to become the owners of a 1987 20' Bigfoot Fifth wheel, purchased from Linda & Jim in Oregon.

I live in Houston and had been exchanging emails with Linda... when we connected the dots, we found that my nephew and his delightful bride were going to be in Linda's town the very next day! They met up on Christmas day to look at the Bigfoot.. Tim then gave me a big “thumbs up” and I closed the deal with Linda!

Flash back a few months… after months of lurking and online research my short list was Bigfoot and Escape, but other brands would be great too. Two months ago, while in SC for auntie’s 95 birthday, I made an 8-hour RT drive to inspect a vintage Burro. This was my FIRST TIME inside a FBFV. Unfortunately, it was not in very good shape and I came away disappointed.

I attended Matagorda Madness earlier this month in a rented 13' 1979 Scamp (my second time inside a FBRV). Ginny (DW) joined me for the last day and night and bought our two grandsons along. If you were there, we were the ones who showed up to the pot luck with a pot, but no plates and utensils. Ha! Ginny ran back to the trailer and retrieved the two plates, three bowls, and the frying pan! Needless to say, I ate out of the frying pan.

We toured a Scamp 19 and an Escape 5.0 TA (many thanks to their gracious owners). Wow! All that space! After four days in the 13, I was in heaven. It was clear that a fifth wheel would be better for us because I get up very early (and fall asleep very early). The separation between the sleeping and living in 5'er works for us. Did I mention all that space???

Cancel the Bigfoot, start looking at 5s.

A few days ago, I found Linda’s ad for a BF 5th wheel! I didn't know they existed. Wow, how cool is that? One thing led to another and we became the new owners.

Linda, wonderful soul that she is, has taken me under her wing to bring up as a proper FBRV owner. I’ll pick up the trailer in early February to begin a six-week journey back to Houston.

But what will I tow it with? My minivan will not do. (You'll see my next post on the Towing, hitching, etc forum.)

So “Hello” to all of you fine folks. From all my reading, I almost feel like I know you already.

Happy Holidays!

Rich

Welcome, what a neat story.
Sounds like the trailer you bought was 'meant to be'

Great to see another Bigfoot in Texas. Hope to see you at the big Bluebonnet Rally in April.

Lucky you!

I've been fortunate to physically see this Bigfoot. Linda & Jim are grand people. I honestly believe the Bigfoot is everything you believe it to be! A true memory maker

Thanks Donna!

Your name came up when I was touring the 5.0 TA at Matagorda Madness. I don't know if it's ok to use her name, so I won't. You know who she is. She was very appreciative of your companionship on her trip to Chilliwack. She couldn't say enough nice things about you. I'd say this puts you in the same class of grand people as Linda & Jim.

I'm so happy to be buying from them. They will deliver their own 2 on 1 RV Boot Camp when I get the trailer. Such personal care is invaluable to me as a new owner. I know it will save me from many, many mistakes.

All the best to you. I look forward to crossing paths at some point.

Rich (& Ginny)
