Ran out of shur-tape .... And energy...
Still need to button it up, install the supports for the shelf above the unit, make a face frame to seal up around front of unit, and install vent on outside

Nice job Kevin, I like to know there are other folks that hold on to things that come in handy later. Still trying to convince my wife I'm not a horder. Just a thought for you, maybe put some 1/4" x 1/4" screen over the end of the drain tube to keep small pests out.

Beautiful work. I wish I could do this on my camper. I suppose I could of I sacrificed a window.

And Dave, do you want a Motorhome to add to your hoard ? There is one at my uncles place in Las Vegas you could probably have for nothing.

Good one Conrad and thanks for the thought. But I'm trying to cull the herd. Everyone collects something and much to my wifes ideas of collecting , mine seem to all have wheels . Now if they were all Corvettes she would be like this

How well does this cool...

I had the understanding that you could not enclose the vents on the sides of the AC or it would basically exhaust hot air back into the cooled space...thinking of doing this in my uhaul if it works... thanks!

All three parts of AC ( when installed like this and not hanging out a window) need to be separated. The vents on the sides of unit vent out the bottom of scamp and is separated from the in room intake and cold air blower on the front of the unit or yes, you are correct, the air would mix and reduce efficiency.

Thanks so much, these instructions looks VERY helpful, how is it working out?

PS. I was only able to find this by the assistance of your lovely wife posting the link to it on Facebook. Nothing I'd typed in on the Search bar pulled up anything to do with installing an AC unit in a Boler/Scamp closet

AC closet install

I'm curious as to how your install functioned, did it do as well as you hoped without overheating?Did water splash into the floor area when traveling or debris enter while traveling?

Also, I wasn't sure but how did your AC unit enclosed in the closet get its' fresh air intake? I couldn't see for certain but it looked like the roller pan (aka drip pan) covered the attic vent you'd installed in the bottom. Did you maybe cut ventilation 'holes' in the side of the closet (interior by door or dinette) to allow more air to get in?

The gentleman who is going to install my 5000 BTU AC in the closet of my 1972 Boler's closet is going to start on it this coming week & we both are relying on what the experienced installers on this site have done. What additional information do you have for me, any further suggestions, regrets or alterations or "Ah Ha!" moments? Thank you
