Took our
Casita camper to
Oliver Lee State Park just south of Alamogordo New Mexico for the weekend. Park is in a great location to use as a base camp for road trips in the area. I consider anything within a few hrs drive as fair game for a road trip. We visited Rockhound State Park, Cloudcroft, Sunspot, Bluff Springs, White Sands and a few other locals. Had a few meals in Alamogordo, visited the Space Museum there too.
All in all a really nice 4 day weekend. About 5 hrs drive from home. Took the scenic route (of the Mountains in CLoudcroft) and stayed off the interstates. Averaged about 23mpg for the trip. Fuel is still far and away our biggest expense for weekend trips. Diesel gets great mileage but at some stations it was running 20% over regular unleaded. Cost of Diesel just balances out the gains in mileage.
Went out to White Sands National Monument Thursday evening and got treated to a fine sunset. This is a 2 shot pano stitched in PS Elements 11.
