Cork Flooring

I pulled up the carpet in my Scamp 3 or 4 years ago and glued down cork 12 x 24 tiles directly to the plywood. I ignored all the advice to leave a gap around the edge for expansion; with no ill effects. I've been very happy with the results.

Rick, if you are gluing down flooring, there is no need for leaving an allowance around the edges, especially with cork. If the cork was an floating engineered product, that would be a different matter.

Bet that cork looks and feels good, eh?

Oh I am all kinds of confused lol. Anyway, if laying flooring directly on fiberglass bottom, any need for a vapor barrier?

Nope, no need Lyndsay. The only time a vapour barrier is used, is in a basement application where you are putting in on concrete. In homes we never use a VB anywhere else for flooring.

Clayton, how did you get the angle cuts on your trim for the little triangular bits under the table/top of the step.

This is the progress so far but now I'm having trouble with the trim :/
I couldn't find the trim Clayton used in a grey so I'm trying to use an aluminum trim that is not so compliant right now.

Hey Lyndsay, I used an adjustable angle square to find the angle and then traced it on to the trim piece. What type of aluminum trim are you using?

I used a stair nosing of rubber or vinyl, which we find in Home Depot.

http://www.homedepot.ca/product/viny...-8-inch/922902

Fixed with stainless screw and countersunk finishing washer.

SEARCH - Countersunk+Finishing+Washer - Home Improvement, Home Renovation, Tools, & Hardware | Home Depot Canada

There is less risk of wounds in feet and in knees with the rubber than with the metal.

I completed this change last summer and we are very satisfied.

Have a good day.

I think it's actually for walls. Not really sure but the flooring fits in nicely.
