Thumbs up

End of the summer I purchased a used 14' trailer. My first! I can't wait to get on the road in the spring. Haven't found any website anywhere that even mentions this make/model. I believe they are now only sold in Europe, but some made it to North America many years ago. Looking for info/feedback on it. Will post a photo if I can figure out how.

I beleive the Captain is the big brother to the Cadet. I have only seen a photo of the Captain, but there are still a few of the Cadets around in varying condition. Someone on this board from the London or Sarnia area was discussing these last fall prior to the board being hacked. Maybe they can jump in with more information.

Would like to see your photos. I don't know if the equipment installed is European or North American. I think Apache Trailers in Thornhill sold a few of the Cadets, so they could be a possible resource for more information and I am sure they would provide service if you needed it. I have always had good service and dealings with them for many years.

If you have any specific questions, post them here, I am sure someone can figure out any issues you might have.

Check out the Ontario Bolerama in the Rallies Section. 1st Week in July, not too far from you, and a great time, large variety of Fiberglass trailers.

Hi, Lorraine!

Welcome to the Forums! Does your Predom look like this, the Cadet? Or is it something different?

The Cadet and the Captain are different models of a Polish trailer, the Predom. Predom trailers were imported to North America via Canada many years ago.

Predom Dealer's Page: http://www.predom.nl/

Another Dealer Page: http://www.kampeerwagencentrum.nl/caravans/predom/

This site sells used Predoms: http://www.2dehands.be/markt/caravan_tour/predom/

I'm not sure why but the sites are based in the Netherlands, Dutch language, but the trailers are Polish.

Yes, I've heard my Captain is a grown up Cadet. I seem to remember seeing something about Apache Trailers on the paperwork, which is currently in the trailer in storage. My model is older than ones I have seen photos of. Great interior - double bed plus single bunk beds - both convert to tables. Here are a couple inside photos. Will look into the Trailer camp at Emily - really close by..

wow guys - thanks for the fast responses - I'll check out the websites you all sent over the next couple of days.

Hi Roger - mine is similar, but a little longer I think. Floor plan A is extremely close.

Thanks Benita,
I spent a bit of time on the websites. Not much English on them, and my Dutch friend is in Phoenix just now..Thanks for sending them - I'll cruise them in more detail later.

Go to http://www.altavista.com and select the Babelfish translation link. Enter the webpage to be translated as well as what the source language is and what language you want it translated to and they will give you a literal translation of the words. Sometimes, this is incomprehensible. But its better than nothing.

Hi Folks; I have a 1987 Captain trailer whose shell was manufactured in Poland
by a firm still in business called Niewiadow. The shells of both Cadets (13') and Captains (16') were brought over to Ontario by a firm called Nical Inc. They were outfitted in Ontario and distributed through a number of dealers. I believe they were only in business for two years
I will gladly email photos to anyone who wants them, but I have yet to be sucessful in posting them on this site.
I will be at "eggstravaganza" at Emily PP in july after returning from a trip to St.John N.B.
in June. Glad to see there are some more still out there.

In an effort to clear up some of the confusion about the "Predom, Captan Cadet" trailers,
I have contacted the sales manager for Niewiadow in Poland and he is going to research their files in an attempt to tell me how many shells were sent to Canada in 1986 and if any were sent to the U.S.
The ones sent to Canada were outfitted by Nical Inc ( the importer) who gave them the name of Cadet (13' poptop) and Captain (16' with toilet room).
Niewiadow exports trailers to over nine countries presently some of which are marketed under the Niewiadow names of 126 n, nt, and ntl. Trailers exported to Holland are outfitted there and marketed as Predom and these also carry the "N and nt " labels.

I hope this clears up some of the confusion, but I believe that most of these trailers that are presently in North America are of Nical decent and rightfuly carry the names of Cadet and Captain. The was also a fiberglass clad 21' model sold by Nical called the Admiral. I have yet to see one.
I will report back to this forum once Niewiadow sends me the information on how many were exported.
Brian

Wow! Those are really nice trailers! I think the Europeans have a good handle on the fiberglass caravan form and know its potential.
