My 1976 Trillium 1300 Overhaul

Things we did:

Removed belly band and fibre glassed the holes and painted

Resealed all windows with butyl tape (replaced rear window because of A/C unit that was an eyesore)

Replace 9 1/2" roof vent with 14" fan

Removed all old wiring (12volt and 110volt)

Installed power convertor (never had one)

Installed battery and battery box (never had one)

Installed all led lighting for interior and exterior (also added a 3rd brake light)

Installed USB ports and 12volt lighter ports for extra plugs

Removed poorly installed indoor/outdoor carpet from walls and cleaned up left over ensolite insulation which was never removed 100%

Painted all cabinets white


New maple cabinet doors and new hinges throughout

Installed shelves in closet

Insulated with reflectex and then installed a quality hull liner material

Removed old water tank and installed smaller tank under sink

Replaced both water faucets

All new cushions and covers

All new curtains

New foam floor covering

Full exterior cleaning and then Zep treatment

Painted all vent covers

Installed an awning rail (never had one) and had an awning made

Added a utility box on rear and moved spare tire (had minion face made for cover)

Added brakes along with new rims and tires


Added CO detector and smoke alarm

I think that's about all. No wonder in took 7 months.

Replaced the filon with a plastic sign off my old shop. Will replace it in the spring with proper lexan.

The floor covering is those interlocking foam floor tiles that I picked up at Canadian Tire. Best-Step Anti-Fatigue Interlocking Mats, Brown Basketweave | Canadian Tire

I wanted to make sure the dog wouldn't slide on the floor when she walked on it.

Totally awesome. I hope that our 75 Trillium looks as good when we do ours. I like the little shelf above the fridge. What kind of paint did you use to paint the cabinets?

I used this




I sanded the interior with a 100 grit sandpaper on a random orbital sander and then primed with Zinnser 1-2-3 primer. Then I 'rolled' this one part acrylic paint on that I bought at a Dulux store. The 'rolled' is in quotes as the paint has a consistency of toothpaste. It spreads out ok and dries beautiful. Seems very chip and scratch resistant. It will also be really easy to touch up as I only needed half a can for 3 coats.

I caught this trailer in person by chance over the weekend. Stefan has done a great job on resurrecting this trailer. I was in awe at the professionalism of all his work so far!

The cabinet paint does look incredible!

Very motivating on getting me planning on working on mine again.

It was very nice to meet you and your wife and your 2 'puppy' dogs. I really enjoyed exchanging stories and ideas about trailers. Hope you get a chance to get to work on your trailer and get the jobs done that you'd like to. It was nice to see a 4500 in person to see the differences between it and my 1300. Thanks for the kind words about our trailer. If nothing else maybe we'll see you next year again in Elora.

I am contemplating purchasing a Trillium 1300 (1976) that needs some extensive work so am looking up costs of replacement parts. I have not found anywhere to get the back window. Can you tell me where you got yours?

I found an almost identical window on an old Prowler motorhome. It was only 1/2 inch shorter top to bottom but it still fit. There are lots of old motorhomes parked or being parted out that might have something really close.

Been a while since I posted progress on my Trillium.
I decided to take a crack at adding some overhead shelving at the back and front.

Also added some lighting around fantastic fan to simulate daylight and lights under new shelving.
